My friend, a teacher, told me that she learned in her child development classes that they are learning conversation skills, and don't know any other way to keep the conversation going. :) So the best thing to do is to ask them questions so they learn how to ask other questions besides WHY.

I agree with Morgan. They just want to know what's really going on. We've just tried to give our son actual answers when he asks. When we asked him something he got use to saying "because" so we told him because is not an answer. We try not to just say "because" or "because I said so". He'll just keep asking. He's 2 1/2 now and if we do say because he'll say too quick "MOMMY BECAUSE IS NOT AN ANSWER!" Makes me laugh.
