Hi just wanted to share my son's story and find someone who has gone through the same thing as we have.

My son Trey was shaken when he was four months old by his biological father. He is now 12 years old and it is very hard to watch him grow up not knowing what he is thinking or feeling. When he was shaken I was told he would not live, but he did survive. He has the most amazing personality, but he cannot talk, has visual impairments, and mild seizures. He has the biggest smile in the world and he is the light in my life. I think it would be nice to talk to someone who has gone through a similar thing in their lives. Also to all of you who have never heard of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy check it out. My son has had 127 treatments and it has done wonders for him!!

This hyperbaric treatment will still do some help even after there has been nothing done for such a long time? My mother has questioned me about this. She has taken medical custody of Trevor because she has a medical degree and knows the crazy terminology. I have been so gung ho for this since I went to the candle light vigil in April and heard about it there. Abbey

Hi Robyn,

It is nice to hear from you. I am sorry to hear about your son Christopher. No child should have to go through what our childern, and our families went through. My son Trey also loves to be in school and interact with the other kids. He is now 12 and just started junior high so it has been a little nerve wracking lateley. It sounds like you are a good Mom and you fight everyday for your child. It takes alot of patience (I know). And I think you and I both know not to listen to everything a doctor says, because they don't know everything.

hi Jessica,

my name is robyn and my son 8yr old son Christopher was also shaken by his biological father, he was 1yr old. The Dr. said he had 20% chance of living and if he pull out of it he would have brain damage and many problems he would more then likely spend his life in a hospital. He just turned 8 in August and he does everything any normal 8yr old kid does with some exceptions but he always does his best to try. he still has problems talking you cant understand him all the time he has lots of problems in school but loves to go and play with the kids. He beat all the odds but a lot of it was me i wouldnt take no for an answer i fight for him tooth and nail to get him in theropy and speech classes. The dr.s thought i was crazy they said it wouldnt help and i needed to realize you cant change brain damage. i proved them wrong. its been a long 7yrs and i still fight everyday for him to get him the best help i can. he is the sweetest most loving kid ever. we have been lucky he has been seizure free for 5 yrs now no more meds. he does have ADHD and learning disabilty but we work threw it. at least he has his life and that is the most important thing to me!
