My sons are Cayden Marcus, Zavien Bryce (pronounced zay-vee-en), Dallen Cody and Tayne Riley and my daughter is Siahna Jade (pronounced see-ahna). Aside from Cayden, which wasn't popular at all when I named him 10 years ago, I've not heard of anyone else with my children's names. :)

I went the tradition route with my first 3...good strong catholic names: Andrew Thomas(12) James Nickolas (8) and Brandon David(7) but with my angel baby,

I chose Delaney Marie (she was born sleeping May 2nd 2011)

My son is Benjamin Raineri George - Benjamin after my husbands grandpa, Raineri (pronounced Rye - ner - ee) is my Dads name, it's Finnish, and George after my husband's Dad

My daughter is Natalie Elizabeth Grace - Natalie after a patient I had, Elizabeth is my middle name, and Grace because she was given to us by the grace of God.

My daughter's name isn't different, but we thought it was beautiful, most people haven't heard my sons first middle name. My Dad goes by "Rye."

I'm due any day now with a little girl we're naming Aislyn.

Ayz-lin

I know the "correct pronunciation & spelling" is Aisling, and its pronounced Ash-ling (Irish/Gaelic)... but that is not the name we chose, so dont give me heartache over it please.

We chose Aislyn because its a very pretty name and I've NEVER in my life met anyone with that name. Plus it fits together well with the rest of the names in my family.

Chris, Jaci, Connor & Aislyn.

:)

Well my eldest's name is Ryan, it's average but was not a name we had picked out for him. When he was born I took one look at him and for some reason I knew he was meant to be a Ryan. But with my second son it was completely different. His name is Kingsley, we had so much trouble picking out a name for him that we decided to look at names associated with his big brothers, Ryan means little king and thus we came across Kingsley. No one liked the name at all but after he was born everyone loved it and couldn't picture him being anything but Kingsley. I have yet to meet another with the name Kingsley. My third son has a family name Owen. Now I am pregnant with a girl finally and we have chosen the name Ophelia. Not many like it but I think it will be just like Kingsley, once she's born people will agree her name was meant to be.

I'd have said kin-eek-weez

When the name is so different it's unpronounceable I think it's a disservice to the child!

I love my daughter's name: Victoria Grace! Victory with God's grace that after 8 years of trying, 2 miscarriages, 3 failed adoption attempts that I finally gave birth to our own very healthy beautiful little girl! We call her Tori and she has a list of nicknames that I call her... she's 10 so she's decided she likes Vicky. I hate it! Icky Vicky! I think she let's her friends call her that because she knows I hate it! :-P As a teacher it is very hard to get "unique names/spellings" correct on the first attempt. Sometimes the names given to children "hurt" them instead of just making them "unique" and "different." I had one student years ago that had a really hard to say name... he had been at my sister's school the previous year and one of her friends had taught him. So before open house I called and asked how to say this kid's name. The mother was so excited when I said it right! But bless the kids heart never having it said correctly! Kynyquys was his first name. How would you say it? Ken Nike Wuz Anyone close?

My 6 yr old name is Karess Anabel... Haven't met a Karess yet, but since my mother didn't like either one of her name, her nickname is Nina. Gotta love how everyone thinks her name is Nina. Once they know her real name is Karess they just love it and say is very unique. :-)

Really? Well I guess it's different in different countries. Here you don't add Rs in names unless they're written in there. Lana is lah-nuh there's a name Lorna with an R or of course Laura but if there's no R there's no R here :)

my daughters name is Lana and its pronounced LAR-NA. its just how you pronounce LAN together i believe. some people even write an r think theres one but theres not. i guess its just down to the individual not so much a cultral thing. hope this doesn't offend anyone just stating my opinion

Is it a cultural thing to pronounce an r where there isn't one? We don't do that here! If there's no r we don't say one.

Why couldn't you spell it kalarni?

Well of my 3 kids the only one with a unique name is our three year old daughter:

Kiersten Mattea.

We added the e to ensure it is pronounced KEER-sten rather than KUR-sten.

Then there's our boys, Noah Paul and Owen Josiah, both top 10 names sigh lol. Don't know how that happened considering my name is Starla!
