I gained 50, and lost like 38 by my 6 week checkup because of breastfeeding and healthy eating (the slow way), and then got down 15 lbs lighter than my pre-pregnancy weight, and I'm 7 months pregnant again bc my husband thought I was a hottie lol...
I would suggest starting out the slow way for the first 6 weeks WITH breastfeeding, so you have all energy and carbs and cals you need to feel better) after 6 weeks, use the fast way until you get down to your goal weight, and after you have acheived your goal weight, then go back to the slow way. The fast way is semi-forgiving, if you have a piece of bread here or there (like I would have ONE can of soda every friday) it wont kill it, but you have GOT to stick to it, and it doesn't take too long, so it's really not that bad. Don't do this if you have any medical condition concerning diabetes, pregnancy, thyroid, or whatever, I am NOT a doctor, I'm just telling you what worked wonders for me.
Here are two ways to lose weight, slow & super healthy with excercize but hungry all the time and then the fast, effective, and full method.
The slow way is a balanced diet for carb and cal counters that want to lose 2-3 lbs a week... you know, for people that have the time to sit there and read lables at the store, although I would suggest this diet after reaching your target weight with the fast way.
THE SLOW WAY (for people who only have 10-15 lbs to lose)
KEY: It really helps to write DOWN EXACTLY what you plan to eat every day, so you don't splurge when you're bored and you have orders to stick to. ALWAYS eat breakfast, have a low cal/carb breakfast like a cup of LIFE cereal with a cup of 2% milk or soy, have A sandwich with wheat bread, low fat or fat free mayo, stay away from American cheese and high fatty meats, or have a small salad (but don't load it with dressing), pretzels or nuts for snack before dinner if you get hungry, and then stay away from fatty foods at night like white bread, regular pasta, burgers, hotdogs, pizza, white rice, anything with a heavy cream sauce (like alfredo) or oil-based dressing.
AND YOU CAN LOSE 2-3lbs/wk (if you LIKE being hungry all the time.........)
THE FAST and DEFINITELY EFFECTIVE WAY with VITAMINS (important) (for people who want to lose 30+ lbs FAST) 5lbs/wk
Or you can lose it really fast (say... 5 lbs per WEEK) by cutting out anything made with white flour (any pasta, any bread, any rice, chips) Don't eat Potatoes or Avocados, Cut out anything with sugar or carbs in drinks or foods/ fruits, just have water or milk (in moderation) with your meals, you can eat ANY AMOUNT/TYPE of MEAT or ANY TYPE/AMT of CHEESE that you want, hotdogs, hamburgers, pepperoni, sausage, eggs, steaks, chicken (non breaded), american, provalone, swiss, parmegiano reggiano, milk (in moderation) ooo and the best part, CHOCOLATE!! (in moderation)
I Lost 5lbs PER wk and I lost 15 in the first 2 weeks. It takes a few days (5 days TOPS) to start working, so don't think you're going to lose a lb the first day, it's not easy especially when you're a carb-a-holic like me (+ my husband is an italian chef that teased me with home made pizza and fresh pasta the whole time) You can have a MAX of 23 carbs per day (but count carefully and WATCH portions, they are tricky), but I lost weight REALLY fast, and REALLY felt it when I excercized (WHICH wasn't even THAT OFTEN or HARD!) Just walking up and down stairs changing diapers, carrying my daughter and every few days I'd go swimming or pop in a workout video my mom gave me.
THIS just an example of what I would eat in a day
I'd have cheese omlet or steak and eggs for breakfast with a cup of milk or COFFEE
italian spicey sausages with melted cheese for lunch with some iced water or milk
and then like steak and a vegetable for dinner with water,
and a piece of chocolate for dessert.
Doesn't sound too bad does it?
