I am 17 years old and I have a 6 month old that I have been breastfeeding since day one and still am. This is not to put down mothers who formula feed but i am just curious to know if any of you breastfed or are breastfeeding? I get crazy looks and comments when people discover I am a teenage mother and am breastfeeding.

:) any takers?

i had my little one at 18 and breastfed her up untill she was one! dont worry about what other people think its the best thing for your baby and if its what you want then theres no need for anyone else to put their opinions in. its a great way to bond with your baby!

Unfortunantly, I am no longer bf my daughter anymore! She weaned a week before her 2nd birthday; I had her at 18. I bf my eldest daughter for 6 months, I was 16 at the time.

I did not breastfeed. I didn't like breastfeeding and neither did my daughter. I pumped when I could and formula was way more convenient for me and helped my daughter gain weight fast since the kind she was on was designed to do that. Formula feeding suits us =]

Hello Hannah, i am also a mother at 17 yrs, but my little girl is only just over 4 weeks old. Since day 1 i was breastfeeding her but she wasn't gaining weight, in fact she lost the wieght, now i put her on the formula, she has put a fair bit of weight on.. So yes i breast fed,.. Don't worry about the crazy looks you get, it natural. :)

I expressed for the first 7 months. Ava had severe fear of my breast after and awful experience with a midwife. Just 2 weeks ago, she began latching. We are slowly getting there! While expressing was exhausting I am so glad we pushed through, because in the end., we are finally getting there!

I breastfed my oldest and youngest, but not my middle daughter. I was 14 when I had Mak and I told them that I was going to nurse her. I had her at 2:30 am and fell asleep afterwards.... soooo tired. My mum went home to get me and the baby some clothes and the nurse snuck around and gave her a bottle. My mom threw a tantrum on that nurse. I love that woman! With my middle I had ppd which lead to a trip to the phych ward because it almost turned into ppp. With my youngest I was 22 so they didn't try that crap with me again. I nursed my oldest till she was almost 2, but it got kinda weird cause she would try to take my top off in public and beg for "nibbles". My youngest was a pain in the butt about weaning, she was two 1/2. At 3 she still tries to nurse. So I just hold her like I used to when she wants to sleep.

when i had my son i was still in the hospital i just turned 17 the nurse asked if i wanted to try breastfeeding and i told her of course that i wanted him to be breastfed i read its alot healthier and of course i want my baby to start off the best way he can. She looked at me like she was just absolutely SHOCKED they sent another woman in there that specialized in helping mothers breastfeed and she was shocked at my age to, almost everyone couldnt believe it. but i did what i know was right for my son. not to say anything bad about formula baby's or anything, some people can breastfeed my friend got an infection but she has alot of health problems it was a miracle her and her baby are fine.

I had my son when i was 18 and i have been breastfeeding since he came home( it was hard for me to nurse him in the hospital cuz i was on blood pressure meds and i was extremely dizzy) i am 19 now and my son is almost 8 months and he still breastfeeds. sometimes i wish i didnt so i can wear a normal bra (without nursing pads) and i could just give him a bottle when we r out instead of having to hide in the car in the parking lot (thats if we r out for the whole day, its pretty easy to just take a trip to the store) but its so healthy for him and he has not been sick once since he has been born and i honestly believe its mainly because i nurse him..And i think its awesome that you breastfeed and u r young, 2 many women make exscuses why they stopped or just didnt and more women should breastfeed and i think its selfish of the women who formula feed because your breast milk is sooo much better for your baby!!!

My daughter is the same age and I still do. Dont' stop!!! Girls our age RARELY exclusively breatsfeed and they may be crazy looks but its because you are so young. Keep it up girl! I get crazy looks too but they reassure me that i'm not just another statistic!

i breastfed my little one until she was six months and then ran out of milk. it would take her an hour to feed and i had to do it every thee hours. was so exhausting but apart from that i knew it was the best thing for her and the cheapest too! i also dont see enough young mums doing it. i have asked a couple ppl i know why they dont want to, and they say they dont want saggy boobs! its completly your decision wether or not you do breastfeed but i think that is just a silly excuse. you can not have any more of a personal bonding moment with your child when you breastfeed. its so special

Good on you! I have been breastfeedin for just over 3 years non-stop! I fed my daughter untill she was 2 and she weaned when i had my son, he is 1 tomorrow and still feeding! I love breastfeeding and would really love to see more young mums breastfeeding, it is so much better for them, easy and convenient! Keep it up you are giving your baby the best start to life!
