how many teen mom are breastfeeding and for how long?

i was 17 when i got pregnant with my son 18 when i had him i bf him until he was 4 months and he just quit taking it he is now 10 months and im 3 months pregnant again i intend to bf again and hopefully for longer time

I had my son when I was 19 a little under 3 months before I turned 20 he is now 5 months and I'm still breast feeding him I plan on continuing until he stops on his own

That is awesome that you breastfed for so long at such a young age!



I had to have some testing and scans done where they injected iodine into me intravenously so they told me to pump and dump for like a week!!! It was so emotional for me to dump out my milk that my baby was supposed to be drinking, I was only 16 and she was only 3ms old! :( I didn't have a freezer supply to give to her so I had put her on formula. I got so discouraged about pumping and dumping that I stopped and I didn't know that it would have been possible to start back up after a week. Shortly after I stopped nursing her she got and ear infection and then they were just CHRONIC after that. I have blamed myself about that for the past 5yrs!

My son is now 10ms old and I'm 21, we are still breastfeeding, but I am trying to wean him by 12ms.



I hope all teen moms will at least try it! Boobs are not just for sex, and if any young mom is worried about how it will feel, don't worry there is NO "arousal" from it! That was my greatest fear. And please just work through the pain if any in the beginning! I PROMISE it does get easier and w/in the 1st month usually you wont even barely feel baby suckling anymore.



Oh and Noelia are you sure your 3rd wasn't on a nursing strike? I heard they do that and your just supposed to keep trying for days.

i had my son when i was 19 anyways i breastfeed him up till he was 5months old,i soo wish it could of been longer!! though i was going through problems and my milk dried up,i plan on bf my next baby for as long as possible as i really enjoyed it and feel its such a great bond between mother and child :)

I breastfed my son till he was 18 months old and only stopped due to not falling pregnant. Now pregnant with the second I plan to breastfeed again, hopefully for the same amount of time or longer!!!

Wow it's great to see other breast feeding teens!
I was 16 when i had my daughter and it's been just over a year and i'm still breastfeeding :) I'm going to let her self ween :)
I only know 1 teen mum who breast feeds! I know plenty of teen mums but they're all bottle feeders.
Good on you girls for doing the best for your babies! wewwww! :D

I was 17 when i had my first and i quit bfeeding the month he turned 2...i was hoping to take some time off before we were to have another..little did i know i would end up pregnant the same month...i am now bfeeding my second, and so far so good we are still going strong almost 7 months!!! both of them have been positive experiences although i don't know if i will breast feed as long this time as i do have to go back to work and school :( but i did enjoy every minute and loved how much money i save breastfeeding!

I was 17yrs old with my first. I breastfed him for 8.5mnths. I weaned him cold turkey because I was about to start school to become a nurse and he insisted on nursing NON STOP from 2am until 7am. I couldn't take it.

I breast fed my son untill he was 2 1/5 months old. I wanted to bf him for much longer, but I had medical problems and I just stopped making milk.
Well done for breast feeding your children for so long.
