I got two. the first one was very uncomfortable... which is weird no one i know has had to have that kind. they stuck this huge thing up inside me and you could see the baby on the tv screen and the second one was the normal one with the gel on your belly. so... anyone have the first kind. or how many ultrasounds did you get to have?

I didn't have that the vaginal one with either of my kids. I only had one ultrasound with each pregnancy. When I was pregnant with my son it was 26 weeks and with my daughter is was at 23 weeks. With my son they thought they might have to do another one because he was still breach a week before my due date, but then he turned the day after that appointment and was born 6 days early.

I was lucky not to have that but I did have a lot of scans. My first was at 9wks, 12wks, 19wks, 26wks, 29wks, 34wks, 37wks and 40wks..

They thought my bubs was to small. She came out 9 days over due weighing exactly 6lb.

Hi, I had the transvaginal scan with my first pregnancy. I miscarried that morning, and they had to take one that way because they needed to take the scan to check what was going on.

With my second pregnancy, I had a scan at 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 11 weeks and 19 weeks. I didn't have to go through a transvaginal second time around luckily.

The transvaginal scans are normally used when the sonographer can't see the baby very well. It's quite common... But god, they are painful!!! xxx
