i would say 1 or 2 times a day i used to do it at night because it would help fill their bellys so they would sleep better anda little longer

When we started my son on rice cereal we gave him 1-2 tbsp in the morning and then after about a month moved him up to doing the same at dinner. Then we started mixing it with veggies at night and then started bringing in fruits in the morning. Now, (he's almost 6 months) we give him cereal with fruit in the morning, and choose between fruit and veggies at lunch and veggies at dinner. We also started giving him oatmeal cereal about 2 weeks ago. I've been told do rice, oatmeal or barley and then end with mixed. (Those are of course in order of how easy they are to digest.) He has done quite well and remember, always on the spoon, bottles are a severe choking hazard. When you start on veggies make sure you do yellow first as they are easier to digest, those are wax beans, carrots (yes they are considered yellow), and various types of squash and then the greens like green beans, broccoli, peas, etc. He likes all of them except wax beans and broccoli. His current favorites are peas, carrots, apples, pears, and peaches.

I started aubree on rice cereal at a month... and i give it to her in every feeding she wont eat a bottle without it so i have no choice. and i didn't start her on the oatmeal until she was almost three months.

i started giving my son baby rice at just under 4 months. just once a day.. normally around lunchtime halfway through a feed, when he wasn't too hungry or tired. keep giving him the same one for a few weeks, to let her get used to the new flavour. mix it with the baby's normal formula or breast milk.. so it's just a little bit thicker than her milk.

Our nurse and Dr said give everything 3 days... so give the rice cereal once a day, probably in the morning for 3 days then try it twice then 3 times a day incresing the amount. After that start on mashed vegies... Start simple one type at a time for three days then try another type. This just points out the type of food that may give your baby an allergic reaction. Try to stay away from sweet food at first, if your baby takes a liking to it then they may not want anything else different.

as often as shes hungry.. Andis right about texture though.. If nothingelse try putting a little in her bottles.. mine wouldnt eat rice cereal without mixing like the fruit baby food in with it. I would have to mix it with her nightime bottle

Also you will want to start the texture out to be runny and gradually work your way towards making it thicker. Some babys prefer runny cereal and some prefer thicker. If you're making it thicker just watch her to make sure she isn't going to gag or choke.

she is actually eating it? my daughter refused to eat it. she made herself gag.. so we just went straight to baby food. and i try to feed her that as often as she is hungry so she isnt as reliant on her bottle

I would start by giving her cereal once maybe twice a day and then gradually go up from there. Like a couple days later try giving it to her one more time during the day and be sure to give her formula/breastmilk as well. My doctor told me to try one new food for a whole week before you switch, that way if she's allergic to something, you'll know right away what exactly it is.
