My son still seems hungry after being fed. How old was your baby when you started them on solids?

I started at 2mos with all three of my children they are just fine the doctor told me to give it to them because they would drink to much formula in a day. It helped alot with the constant need for food. I did however only give them one jar a day usually the veggies.

We started our son on cereal in his bottle at 2 months, we talked to our doctor and he said we could, then at 4 months he got solids... and hes thriving on them... hes now almost 5 months... and hes started on 2nd foods... because hes just so hungry all the time... i would start your son on cereal in his bottle, just make it a little thick, you will have to cut the hole bigger in the nipple... and the earliest i would start him on solids is 4 months.... Hope this helps...

XOXO

My youngest daughter is now 18 yrs old, she was my last baby! I was breastfeeding her when she was a newborn till 18 mths old but when she was 3 months old she was ready for solids, my other two children l have were 4 months old, which is the normal age to give then solids, my two older boys are now in their twenties, but l still remember it as it was yesterday but it is always good to check with your doctor, and not to start them with too solid, try egg custard or apple puree, no chocolate till later, don't get your baby get used to sweets at a young tender age, aslong they have natural food in their early lives which is the best!

Baby cereal 4-5 months, baby food (fruits) 6 months, veggies and fruits can be added one per week to make sure your baby is not allergic to them but that's pretty much what doctors recommend. Also, you can start feeding your child versions of what you're eating for dinner when they are 9 or 10 months old depending on interest level and if they can chew and not choke, if they choke, just puree what you're eating like mash up noodles or give them mashed potatoes and experiment. My daughter loved sweet potatoes mixed with organic yogurt! Whatever works!

My little one is 4months now and we have started fruits and veggies and she LOVES them and does great with a spoon! DO WHAT YOU THINK IS BEST FOR YOUR CHILD!

What I have read and what my doc has told me is, don't put anything solid in their bottles. it can lead to weight problems. and if you start them before they can hold their own head up it can make their digestion bad. idk my opinion is it's kinda crazy to start a newborn on anything besides milk. 3 weeks? no offense to the people who have done that it's just too soon for me.

i started my daughter on solids at 3months old. just once a day i was giving her baby rice or rusk with milk out of her bottle. she was a very hungry baby, i put her on hungry baby milk when she was 5weeks old, the health advisor was not happy with my desicion, but i felt that it was right for my child, and it satisfied her, just do what you think is right, mothers insticts as they say, dont stick to the books :)) x

@ROBERTA....I think when people refer to "giving their babies solids", they're referring to putting it in their bottles...Like rice cereal in their bottles. It's a mother's choice. If you wouldn't give your child "solids" at that age, then that's your decision.

My son was SOOOOO hungry even after being fed plenty of formula....So, I started putting RICE CEREAL in his bottle with his formula. It works like a charm. He sleeps through the night. I had him on it when he was a few days shy of being a month old.

My baby is now 5 months old. I only give him breakfast and the rest of the day he has milk apart from bed time when i give him a bottle with a rusk in. Everyone has there own ways with there baby. I was told by health visitors not to start him on them till he was 6 months, but it never hurt my daugther who was 3 months when she started them and she is now 17 years old. Go by what you think.

I'm really really shocked by the number of people who have started their babies on solids so early.. some as early as THREE WEEKS?! How do you even get a three week old baby to take solids - they can't even support their own heads at that age!

The WHO guidelines regarding weaning onto solids are there for a reason - there are all sorts of health problems that become apparent in later life which can be linked to early weaning. Why would you want to risk your child's health like that?

We started Baby Led Weaning with our son exactly one week before he turned six months (Christmas Day 2009). He was able to sit up unaided and pick up his own food, get it to his own mouth. He ate a full Christmas dinner for his first meal, and none of it was pureed or forced into him. It was fantastic, and I'm so glad we did it that way.

We started rice cereal with our daughter at 2 1/2 months..we "watered" it way down (with her formula) and she started being hungry less often and even sleeping through the night :) at 4 months we started giving her baby food mixed with her cereal.

It is best to atleast follow the AAP guidlines and wait until atleast 6months of age. Babies stomach's are small and it doesn't take much to fill them up. It is a myth that babies will sleep through the night when given solids, as my younger 2 didn't have solids until they were 9months and did fine, grew, and thrived. They were exclusivly breastfed until 9 months. Noah, had breastmilk and solids until a year, Abby is 13.5months and still nurses.

My 13.5month old eats 4oz of fruit for breakfast, 4oz of fruit/veggie (like squash or avacodo which is a fruit/veggie) for lunch and then has 6oz of veggies for dinner. I make her baby food. I plan on breastfeeding her until she is atleast 2.5, or if she weans herself. :)

do you breast feed? I started when he was 4months old.. because he started getting teeth. he is a year old now and he eats 3 meals a day. no formula. milk every now and then. I am going to wait with my daughter because it gets overwhelming to take the time and feed him a meal. in the morning.. all the time lol. but if he's ready then he's ready. wic doesn't like it but o well. ask your doc too

I started my daughter on solids at 3 weeks old... she was a big baby from birth and breast milk alone was not doing it.
I started my son on solids at about a month old because he has reflux and the pediatrician continued to dismiss it.
Give just a little bit of rice cereal real soupy and see how he does w/it.

He did rice at three months, then simple baby food and prechewed veggies at about four months, once he could sit up properly. But he's always been a hungry bugger. The kid's going to need to get a job soon to help pay for his food!

the time to start your baby on simple solids is around the time they can sit up on their own,, its a natural way to gauge their ability to digest food. usually between 5-7 months..

You're really not supposed to start solids until baby is 6 months, however I started my son at 5 months cause i was desperate for a little more sleep. Is he breastfed? Because if he is he's probably cluster feeding, trying to increase milk production so that he can grow. If he's bottlefed, try increasing how much formula you're giving him. Good luck!

my son started solids at 3 months bc he has always had a very healthy appitite. now that he is 12 months old he doesn't want baby food, he wants regular food all the time so i personally feel that i did an ok job with him =) he eats anything i give him and isn't picky one bit!

Our son was 6 months when we started with rice cereal. 7 weeks is far too young to start solids! Here is a helpful link with more information...http://www.babycenter.com/0_introducing-...
If I were you I would just offer more breast milk or formula at this point. The most important thing is your child’s health.
