I can't decide if I like this name... what do you think?

My boyfriend is set on naming our boy Talon... I love Talon as a name, but I hate the definition of Talon, its definition is an eagles claw. I want to name the baby Talon, but I'm paranoid people will constantly be associating his name, with a claw! (Because so far, everyone who I mention the name to, notes that it means claw) I don't want him to end up getting picked on or hating his name when he gets older. What do you honeslty think, you would use the name for your kid?!

I named my daughter Scarlet which means "Red" Some people liked it, others didnt but I love the name. If i were to have a boy his name would have been Damion. Some people said that was associated with Lucifer or something.....but I think the most important thing is that you give your child a name that allows him/her to be able to get a professional job and do whatever they want...if you teach the child to be confident they wont care what people have to say about their name....my name is Yesenia and no one could pronounce it but i didnt care because it was my name and i think a name should be unique

Wow, Talon is an amazing name!! Who cares what it means. When your child is in elementary he's going to get picked on no matter what his name is. Me for example, i'm anemd Paige, and I grew up with tons of book jokes. Talon is a beautiful name, stick with it! :)

I thought of this name for my son but my boyfrined said the same thing... here is a great thing to do.... go to a mall where there is enough people that u dont look crazy and call the name as if calling to your child....."talon come here please" if you feel totally ok with it then stick with it if you instantly feel that everyone in the place is looking for a chicken foot then change it....

Personally, I didn't associate it with a claw when I first read the name. I actually really like it, and it's not too common, at least from where I'm from. I say use it if you love it!

I think it's a nice name, but I wouldn't personally name my child that. For me its more of a dog or cat name.

Don't be worried about the definition of his name. I named my 2nd son Rohan and everyone reminds me of lord of the rings lol (riders of rohan). At the end of the day the definition doesnt really mean much, if you can feel he is a Talon then he is! Feel proud that hes YOUR Talon. Nothing anyone else says matters. And personally i think its a wonderful name!

go ahead and name your baby Talon. if it were me, i would give him a "normal" middle name so that if he starts getting picked on you have a fall-back (or if he starts to not like his name, he can choose to be called his middle name)

i love that name! my girlfriends son has that name and trust me when u look at him and say it or once you get to know him, you don't associate Talon with an eagles claw, you think of the little boy.
and dont worry he wont get picked on or hate it.. if he dose just tell him that an eagle has very strong claws and is a very important/handsome/strong kind of bird just like he is a very important/handsome/strong boy and that is part of the reason you named him Talon

I've know a couple kids with that name, and i think it is so cute. You really don't think like that when your looking at the kid and saying it like a name. So I say go for it. I love the unique names. My baby's name is Cambry. Not too common, but lovely. No matter what name you come up with kids and even adults will always find a way to make fun of it. Its just how people are. So if you like it then do it!!!!

I think that's a brilliant name! It's edgy and unique, and it has a great ring to it! I wish my baby's father came up with cool names like that.... Or liked the ones that i came up with :/
I say go for it!

I like it. I named my daughter Kylie...different from Kiley because Kylie is Australian and means "boomerang" the other one meant something pretty...forgot though. We didn't want her name to mean "boomerang", but we just liked the spelling better with the one that meant "boomerang" lol.

I like the way Talon sounds. It's kind of edgy. I think you should keep that name.

Go for it. I did that at first too, and a lot of people disagreed with my daughters name, but after she was born they loved it because they loved her. it didn't matter about the name to them, the name is for you to decide!

if you really like the name then go for it and if youre worried about the meaning search around.different books and websites usually give different meanings.
