I make sure its after nap and when she is starting to get tired. I do not know what else to do about it.

they grow out of naps eventually, maybe your child has passed the napping stage.

you see my daughter never belived in naps from birth i swear and now sh'es four and still doesn't go to bed till insane hours of the night where her brother who is almost 9 months old goes to bed early and doesn't wake up until 12 hours later which is nice but I guess some kids are just different

are the supposed to have naps at three? i think quiet time is better so that even though they might not be sleeping the are in a way resting and so are you.

my daughter stopped havin naps at 2 - 2 1/2 & just started going to bed earlier & she now sleeps for about 12 - 13 hours, maybe she's kind ov border line not needing them any more!!??!!thats the hard stage they have to adjust to no nap & earlier bed but once they haven't been napping for a week or so they will get lots better!!!!!!good luck x x

My daughter stoped having naps when she was about 2 years old as she stopped sleeping at night and she went to bed earlier instead.

maybe she just doesn't need the nap anymore?

all 3 of my daughters stopped having naps b4 they were 2, which i found helped them sleep better through the night. What you must remember is every child is differant and has differant sleep patterns. I've always bealived that if a child isnt tired and doesnt feel the need 2 sleep, they shouldn't be forced to no matter what age they are as this will just cause friction and even more resistantance. There are plenty of books and professionals that will say a nap during the day 4 a child under 3 is recomended but in my opinion it all depends on the child. If your daughter isn't tired she wont sleep, no matter what you do so if i was you i would try not 2 stress over it 2 much&take your cues from her, a tired child will sleep whenever and wherever!!

I have the same problem with my son and he won't be 3 til march.  I find that if I have the strength to make him sit still he will fall asleep

I had tried to read to her, I wait til she's got that "I am oh so tired" look on her face.I have tried the quiet time, but its turned out to be a game, she gets bored and then wakes up her 20 month old brother. He's soon moving into his own room but until then, when they both don't "rest" some be it sleep or relaxing, the evenings turn into major trouble.

my son stopped napping around the same time. I just told him he didn't have to sleep but he needs to do something quiet in his room, like "read" books or color. he typically fell asleep on his own. I had a little timer that I would set for 30-45 minutes so he would leave me alone until then

a bath is a good way to relax them before sleep or reading to them. What things have you tried?
