I waanted a c-section because i was horrified of something as big as a baby coming out of my vagina...that seemed unnatural and gross! lol. I can handle seeing things being cut and stuff...i worked for a surgeon and saw it often so I knew how things were done for the most part, when it comes to cutting into someone. i was even thinking i could watch it being done. lol. Basically what they'll do is cut through the tissue and then make another incision in your uterus and then the baby comes out and then you are sewn back up. You will not see it happen, nor will you feel pain. you may feel pressure, you may feel numbness...everyone is different. The first birth is the best until the next because you have nothing to compare it to. c-sections are done successfully and done often...it's not like you're getting some wierd surgery that the surgeon has only done once before and the chances of it working are slim to none.

I dont know of any mother who wasnt worried about something or another when it came to giving birth to their first baby...or having another baby a different way. The main concern of the doctor is to make sure you and your baby are fine....that's it. They will do what they have to to make sure that goal is met. try not to worry too much....you'll be ok and your baby will be fine.

The c-section is not a horrible experience. I had one on September 16. The numb your back first and then give you a spinal. I have no tolerance for pain what-so-ever and getting the spinal did not hurt at all. The actual c-section itself doesn't hurt. All you feel is tugging and then your baby is pulled out. It is nothing to be afraid of.

I had an epidural with my oldest son. It wasn't scary at first but u don't even feel anything with it. Just don't have a spinal block. They dr told me 1 out of 10 woman have a spinal headcache with it. I guess i was one out of the 10. I got a spinal headache.

Heey, my names Crystal, i have 2 kids, my 2 yr old i had a c section and my 3 month old i had vaginaly. I know how you feel, i am a HUGE wimp when it comes to needles and all that stuff too. The c section is not that bad. It is very nerve racking and is a very scary thought, but when it is over you will realize how little of a deal it is. the needle they give u is like any normal needle at the doctors in oyur arm, and the freezing stuff will work no matter what, and if you are really freaked out about the freezing not working, let them know and ask them to put more, or keep it sripping, cuz they did that for me. and u barely feel anything when they take the baby out and all bcuz ur so frozen. The healing proccess afterwards is different for everyone, for me i was ready to get up and go when the freezing was all gone, but for some it is more painful. Dont worry, there is always going to be scary thoughts, but once you are done everything and you have your baby, it is all worth it. and take my advice cuz i was 17 when i had my first and almost 19 for my second, so i was extremely scared!

I was induced after being a week late and i have my water broken soon after i got there was in labor for 14hrs had an epidural like the 8th hour and it didnt work and they rolled me into the operating room and cut me and i felt everything so they gave me soo much medicine i was out and i cant remember anything! I would ask for a spinal block instead of an epidural because they dont go in as deep and they work quickly and wear off quicker because after i had an epidural i have had back problems i think form it and my spinal block was not bad at all but yea A c section is VERY painful afterwards i wouldnt have one unless its 100%necessary the walking around and them messaging your stomach is the worse but you can do it ive had two its all worth it in the end! good luck

I had to have an emergancy c-section and was scared shitless. but i did not have the epadural. I had a spinal block and it was fine nothing like an epidural and it is a on off shot of it. i did not now anything about it and now i am so glad i had a spinal block and not an epidural.

I didn't think the epidural was that bad. I had wanted to go completely natural, but due to complications I was induced 5 weeks early and after 14 hours in labor and a distressed bub all the big wigs were saying I would have to have an emergency caesarian. So by the time I had the epidural my contractions were so intense that I really couldn't feel it. The only difficulty for me was trying to stay still while they did it lol. My daughter did end up been born by forceps delivery in theatre thankfully.

may I ask why you are getting a c section? I have never had one. is it for a medical reason or just because you don't want to have the baby vaginally? just curious. I have never had an epidural or c section. both my kids were all natural.

I was induced with my son because I was a week over-due. I was in labor for 24 hours (got my epidural at 5cm). At the 24th hour, my vitals and my unborn child's vitals were going in the toilet and I had to get an emergency c-section. They rolled me into the operating room, and dumped some drugs like morphine into my epidural, and an even stronger drug to make me feel absolutely no pain. They cut me open, pulled my son out, showed me him, cleaned him up, and I could start to feel EVERYTHING. (I'm sure this doesn't happen to a lot of people though) So I told the doctor and he put more drugs into my epidural...The drugs he had put caused a burning sensation in my shoulders. I ended up throwing up before I went in, which sucked. But I guess a lot of people throw up when they're on the table. SOOOO....I ended up passing out when they were putting me back together and woke up in my room...

Lemme tell ya, I'd MUCH rather have a vaginal birth than a c-section any day. Not to scare you, but it's pretty painful. I think one of the reasons it was so painful was because I ended up with a uterine infection. I came home on a Friday at noon. My boyfriend is an EMT in our town, and he had to be to work for 4pm. My mom ended up calling the ambulance because I couldn't move. So my boyfriend and his partner showed up and he literally carried me down our stairs onto the stretcher and into the back of the ambulance. Got put on 9 different medications for a MONTH.

I guess it's not as bad if you don't get an infection, but it's still pretty painful.

My advice? Google a c-section and just read up on it. That's what I did. Oh, and also, my epidural, HURT. I don't know if he didn't put it in right, but still to this day I get shooting pains across my lower back like I was getting when he put my epidural in.

None the less, don't worry, because no matter what, your baby will be in your arms and it will take all your worries away. :) Add me on Facebook if you want to chat more. My e mail is Lindseyxxx1023@aol.com

i was in the same boat as you when it comes to needles, i wanted an epadural but was terrified ab the pain but once they done it i hardly felt it! they do it while you are having a contraction so thats what you are focussing on and not your back. the hardest part for me was leaning forward so they could do it (my son was turned sideways so i was putting more pressure on him bending forward.) you will feel great after you get it tho! that was the only way i got any sleep. when i arrived to the hospital i was barely able to walk but after the epadural i went to sleep

i had my epi after 26 hours of labour when they told me i was going for a csection due to failure to progress they put the needle in while i was having a contraction so i really didnt feel it at all coz of the pain from the contraction my hosp gave me no pain medication at all after my csection i would deffs say recovery is WAY worse then the actual procedure i could not even go from lying down to sitting up to feed my baby my partner had to help me

why are you scheduled for a c-section? iv never had an epi but i would just say focus on whats coming after the epi. you will have your gorgeous baby in your arms in no time. and once the epi is in you will feel no pain! YAY!

just don't move! lol it's not so bad, i almost have a heart attack getting blood taken & i did it. i just had to tell myself that well, it's a little late to go back now and it's not like you can just say no, i don't think i want you to take him out just let him be LOL i wanted to! but, it's better after they give you lots of nice pain meds that you can still function on, and you will forget the little bit of recovery pain in due time. i've forgotten mine!

The epidural isn't bad just listen closely to what the doctor is saying when doing it and remember to breath it will work out the best

No worries..i did 25 hours of labor with out pain meds. 11 more after an epidural and then had an emergency csection. i was terrified it would hurt and after they wheeled me in to the OR i was wiggling my toes..and at one point i started yelling at my husband not to let them start because i could still feel the top of my tummy and he looked at me and goes "hunny they almost have her out!" and 30 seconds later i heard her cry! i honestly didn't feel a darn thing! at least nothing that hurt. you can feel a little pressure but it just feels like someone pushing on you. and the epidural is like a big pinch..and im scared to death of needles but it went just fine.
Don't worry yourself to much. You will be just fine :) and its so worth everything to bring a beautiful little miracle into the world :)

I had a csection with epidural and you dont feel anything exept for when they are pulling baby out you feel the other doctor pushing on your tummy to move baby down but it just feels like somebody is wobbling your tummy lol
