my 16 month old throws Temper Tantrums eny advice

hi am a 17 year old mom and i have a 16month old daughter who throws tantrums almost over everything! what she wants she gets. if not she throws her self down,hits her self,hits me bites me ,pulls my hair.etc. and shes more like daddys girl so if i dont give her what she wants

she goes cries to her dad and he lets her do it.and sometimes i give in because i dont know what else to do!

am not sure what to do enymore i really wanna get her outta this stage.

please let me know if your have the same problem

Best advice I can give you here is this: when she throws herself down on the ground screaming, tell her that you're sorry she's angry, but you can't hear her when she's yelling, and then walk away. When she starts hitting, biting, kicking, pulling hair, gently take her hands, hold them in her lap and tell her that (x) is not nice. Ask her to show you how she can be nice by giving hugs, kisses, reading stories together or something else along those lines. Ask her dad to back you up on this... you need her to see that she can't break you. My 18 month old son does the same thing. This will pass, I promise!

I have three and they all went through this stage. Each was different on how I ended the tantrum cycle. One I had to just all out ignore. Going as far as to leave the room at times so not to give in. My son would also hit and hurt himself during tantrums. With him I would just hold him to keep him from hurting his self or me, and if he was just kicking and screaming I would either clap and cheer or leave the room. The clap and cheer confused him and usually stopped the fit on the spot. But the good news is eventually they do grow out of them. It just takes a lot of patience and asprin till they do.

My 17 month old daughter started doing that. But daddy and I never give in. Whenever she throws a temper tantrum I give her a spanking and put her in timeout. I tell her that if she's gonna throw a fit she can just sit there. After that she usually stops. There were only a couple times when my husband gave into her but he didn't realize that she had already asked me. When that happened I punished her, and told him what happened. If he knows that you told her no and he gives into her punish her, and when if he asks why tell him that because you said no and he needs to back you up. She will stop when she realizes that both of you are on the same page. I also have a 5 year old son. Been through this a couple times. LOL
