Try saline drops in her nose. That will help dry it up. Also try steaming up the bathroom and sitting in there with her for a little while. That will help loosen up the congestion so you can aspirate her nose a little better. You can put baby vicks on the collar of her pj's, too. I wouldn't put it on her chest because she's so young and her skin may still be sensitive to some things.

Also she should be old enouth to take baby paracetamole (not sure if thats spelt right) which you can ethier get a script for from your docter or you can get some from the pharmacist at your pharmacy, this will bring her temp down and help her sleep.

try buying a vaporiser from your local pharmacy they are really good for sick babies and put on in her room when she goes for her naps. You can also get saline salution (sterilised salt water) from your pharmacy get one of the packs that comes with a bulb extractor (if none have it with them buy it seperately), you need to follow the instructions on the box the saline solution gets a couple of drops in the nose then use the bulb extractor to remove any snot. this should help heaps other then that give her lots of milk and lots of sleep. Theres not alot you can do with babies of this age, over here the docters won't pre-scribe anything thats how i've come to learn these natural ways. If you can't afford a vaporisor i have also found a little bit of karvel (im not sure about over there but over here you get it at the supermarket) on a tissue at the bottle of the cot while there sleeping helps too. Hope this helps, if she starts getting a wheeze or a whooping or grunting cough you need to take her to the docters again as this means she probably has ethier brochiolitis, whooping cough or croop.

hi steam is what your baby needs run a hot bath and sit by the tap end on the floor or stool with baby on your lap, let baby breath in the steam or a facial steamer put a bit of vick in steamer and sit with your baby next to steamer again so inhale the steam. if i doesnt work i would take baby to hospital.

take her in the bathroom and turn the HOT water on and just let it steam up and take her in there then when you get out and all the steam is gone lay her over your knees and bounce her belly down.

Try putting a towel or something under her crib mattress so it elevates her head a little bit. A humdifier in the room with her. Ask your doctor if it is safe to use saline drops for her nose, they help dry it up. With that being said you know your baby best and if you think it`s more than just a cold take her to someone else.

i would try the humoidifier it will help her breath a little easier especially at night, but I would recommend reading up on vicks. I can't remember where i heard it but i seem to have a niggling memory that it can actually hurt their respiratory system later in life but like I said read up on it cause I can't remember. You can also try elevating her head side of her bed at night because it will help drain the mucous from her nose. good luck! hope she feels bertter!

i dont think motrin would help with that. i would clear out her nose about once an hour and it is possible she might have asthma, just too early to tell so the best thing is to clear out her nose or talk to your doctor about a nebulizer, they have them for kids that age and it REALLY helps their breathing, if the doctor wont give you one, i would honestly get another doctors opinion

Try asking your dr for a salt solution in a dipper bottle. thats what i got given for my daughter and just one drop in each nostril worked wonders

Agreed with Lyndsay, there isnt anything you can give them safely except for that infant motrin. This is one of those things im still occasionally dealing with and my daughter is a toddler. Use the nose sucker, she'll be very upset with you but it helps. Better than using nothing. A warm bath should get that nose running also. Find the infant nasal spray, and use to lubercate her nose followed by the sucker. Becareful not to use the sucker it too much, you could irritate her membrane and could possibly make it worse. Use the nasal spray, plug the other nostril with your finger and quickly suck the clogs. Its sometimes also needed during the night while shes sleeping, nobody likes to wake up feeling icky and congested. Hope she feels better soon. Best Wishes. :)

I agree with Lyndsay you need to clean out her nose. If you are worried enough about her then take her into the doctor office and let them look at her

The doc is telling you to give her Motrin because its one of very few things that are safe for a baby that age, so its pretty much your only line of defence as far as medication goes. However... you can get one of those booger-sucker things (not sure what they're really called... an aspirator or something?) to suck all the crap out of her nose and you can try giving her a bottle with hot water to help ease the congestion until she falls asleep at night.
