Right before I gave my son a bath, I massaged a little baby oil into his hair. When he got it the tube, I massaged some shampoo into his hair rinsed and brushed his hair. That did it for me.

When my son had it i put the baby oil or shampoo in his hair and let it sit. I waited til he fell asleep in my arms tho so he wouldnt be alarmed by it. Then i took the baby comb and just kept combing his hair and head it came out pretty good.

use apricot kernel oil and rub the dead, flaking skin off. where your bubbas soft spot is just gently put some oil there and allow it to come off on its own, never apply even gentle pressure there.

I know my grandson got cradle cap and he had very sensitive skin, couldn't use J & J baby lotions and such he would break out. So when he got cradle cap we tried the cradle lotion and soft brstle brush it made it worst. Then we tried very small amount of head and shoulders dandruff shampoo and the soft brush and have to be very careful not to get into their eyes, Then used cortaid cream if was on the forehead or close to eyebrows. It worked well. Hope this helps. I know how unsightly it is.

Put baby oil in his hair and brush it with a fine toothed comb! Works wonders! It's kinda gross though. Ha! :)

Do not wash it with shampoo every time you bath him, and if you use petroleum jelly it should be gone in just 1-4 days .

forgot to add my opinion. I'm a little scared to try the baby oil thing. I read somewhere that it was bad if they accidentally ingested it. My daughter makes it difficult to wash her hair. No matter how hard I try to keep water out of her face she turns right into it. I was also suggested olive oil and hour before bath and fine bristle brush help. I haven't tried but I found baby shampoo and a brush work just as well.

Quoting Amanda:
just curious, neither of mine has had it. both were born slightly early with vernix and had loads of hair... does cradle cap affect children with less hair? or have we just been lucky to miss it?

My son had cradle cap really bad and my doctor told me to use head and shoulders and it really worked you just need to make sure you don't get it in their eyes.

My daughter had it too,. Dont try to pull it off because it can get infected. Putting olive oil on it will help but if he has a lot of hair it will make his hair greasey and will take a while to come out. I used dentinox cradle cap shampoo but there are a variety of other brands, any of them should work, just wash his hair with that every night till it clears up. good luck

when my children were little i put baby oil on there heads , It softens the cradle cap and it can be gently combed out , once you get it off, continue to use the baby oil at each bath time. It wont hurt him at all to have it on. You don't need alot once its gone, just a little to keep it away. Hope this helps, Denise

My son had it too! But I do not think that there is a way to remove it without taking his hair out. What I did was I rubbedn mineral oil on his head and brushed it lightly. The oil breaks it up and it will start to lift, then, you can pull it out but the hair is attached to the scap. But after the cradle cap is gone, start using vaseline so you wont dry his scalp out.
