Need New Ideas on messy preteens!!! Daughter is 10.

I need some more ideas from mothers out there on how to deal with a messy child who tells me she likes to keep her bedroom tidy but yet after playing she leaves it all messy!!! I've warned her many of times about her bedroom but then only tidies a little of her room. Even when she's warned a few times, I've put some of her belongings in a garbage bag to prove a point but that only lasts a few days, then she's back to her same routine??!!!!! What do you do then??? I'm frustrated and aggrivated and I'm running out of ideas!! Help me!!

with my daughter I take all of her privaliges away. you need to do it every time her room is dirty. you can't just do it a couple of days and think is going to stick. It took months for her to understand and she 4. But I want her to know that when you are given something you need to take care of it. I also tell there are alot of kids out there that don't have anything and you are blessed that your room is full of fun activities. She 4 and she already knows how to clean her room. Stick with it and she will get the hint

Well, I know that when I was ten, my stepdad used to yell at my brother and I about keeping our room clean all the time. We never did, so he threw all our toys away. He also warned about putting our shoes away and not leaving them in the lounge and we didn't listen so he threw our shoes away as well! Tough love, but hey, it worked! We couldn't be messy if there was nothing to make a mess of! Good luck!
