how do i get my 3 year old to stop wanting a cup at nnight???

Honestly step one would be to sit down and explain that they do not neet it anymore, if their potty training explain the not peeing their pants have the conversation with them say your big now you dont need one. Then what I did for my son at 2 yrs exactly after our convo about the cup, yes he did still want it, but I put him to bed told him he didnt need it did our hugs n kisses letting him know I do love him and walked out of the room and let him whine himself to sleep it took about 2-3days of not caving in and he understood he wasnt getting it back at night. I did it so brashly because my niece had bottle rot from the bottle and then the cup so I wanted to prevent it . That might be some motivation for you to stick with it, save the teeth in the end.

what's the problem?? is he still in a crib? is it due to bed wetting?? I've always let my son keep water on his night table and i've never seen any reason not to...
