Young Mothers,

Hello Moms,

My name is Terri and I am a mom new to this community. Hi (waving). I am a doula living in DC and my interest in improving the lives of teen moms through support. I am curious to know how many of you ladies had that supportive person there for you (whether it is mom, dad, grandma, uncle Joe, etc), that was there for you during this transition into parenthood. Look back at things now, do you wish that you had more information, or had better resources and if so, what could you do all over again to make your pregnancy labor/delivery a little more comfortable

I have alot of support from basicly anyone. I think I was pretty well educated though my pregnancy and afterwards. I wish I could have had a better midwife though, we did just not see eye to eye. There for she pretty much made my labor horrible.

i was only 14 when i had my son 7 years ago, my parents friends and partner(at the time) family were all very supportive and still r now, i am very very lucky my school were also very good with me and i still got 13 gcse's to be proud of ( even after a year off to have my son). i had no clue what i was in for labour wise thou, i was induced it was frightening and i didnt seem to take any of it in to well (denial) but thanks to my fantastic support i got through it all school, work and i now have another child (daughter) and was completely independent this time and understood it all alot better . looking back i wouldnt change a thing obviously and i cnt fault the help i had, if anything it was my gp that was the least helpful of all.

I had my mum and my partner there during the whole time! I don't think I could have gone through my labour/delivery without my mum, she really helped me through it and I love her even more now because she was there (I am also grateful to my partner too but my mum more so for that delivery) second time I only had my partner with me but I had support from my whole family through both pregnancies so I am grateful to them all xx
