I'm 37 weeks pregnant and sorry guys but I suck at doing this! Brooke, my baby girl takes after her daddy and it huge, he was a ten pound baby and I was a five pound baby so needless to say I'm stretch pretty thin. Also everyday its like I'm going into labor, contractions will start, get heavy and then stop. Or she'll decide she wants to put her big head on my spine and cause me severe back pain I could only describe as someone ripping my lower spine in half. Honestly I know she is healthy and fine and would be just as healthy now as if she were born 40 weeks but as for me, I'm not too sure I'll recover so please any methods that have worked I'm ready to try as long as there not too crazy or put her health in jeopardy, like drinking 45 grams of caffiene and jumping off a roof. Thank you (:

I am currently 37 weeks and 1 day. My cervix is soft my midwife said and have been having regular contractions but no dilation. She's saying she'll do the sweep & stretch on Wednesday...I was wondering if anybody has any advice on how to make things jumpstart a little and keep the contractions going steady.
I've tried castor oil, raspberry leaf tea, walking and bouncing on the birthing ball. Is there anything else I can do. Please help!
Oh and baby's head is very low in the pelvis

I don't know if it worked or no but I tried a lot of things when I went in to labor. The hospital sent me home 3 times over the weekend and I was so sick of going back home because I wasn't moving along quickly enough that I tried everything. My Doula and I walked up and down a flight of stairs for 3 hours. I ate a Habanero pepper (with milk on hand for the heat!) I also took Castor oil so that I could clear my system before birth and help steady my contractions. (That was really nasty so if you decide to do that one then follow instructions and mix it with orange juice. I also did Yoga for pregnant women on a ball to help open my cervix. Took a bath and in it I went from hot water to as cold as I could stand. All were natural methods. The next day my daughter was born I don't know if it helped but it was nice to have her out... She ended up being born so quickly She was born 13 minutes from the time my water broke!!

my husband was 9lb 6oz and i was 6lb 13oz and our son was 6lb 12oz.! the size of you guys, doesnt always mean your baby is going to be that size. i suggest sex, sex and more sex to help induce labor. sperm has a chemical in it that is the same as the one you produce when you go into labor. hubby and i had sex 2 days in a row and i went into labor. your body has to be nearing going into labor for it to work.

Primrose oil capsules insert two nightly into vagina and drink one a day wear a pad because the oil leaks or you can simply massage your perenial area with the oil it absorbs thru the skin

ha!!i felt the same way at about 34 weeks with me son and by 36.5weeks we figured out something that actually sounded like itd work so when we went for my next appt my dr gave me the ok to try it!! ACUPRESSURE! works wonders!everytime my mom and husband would hit certain pressure points in my feet itd cause an instant contraction. after he was born nearly a month early at 7lbs 10oz! my dr told me no wonder i was so uncomfortable he wouldve been over teen lbs if i went full term with him!! thank god i had him early otherwise i wouldve need a c-section for sure because i am a pretty average to small build, and i dont believe my body couldve handled a 10 pounder!!

Also Try the raspberry tea. I know for a fact that when you are completely ready for the baby then the baby will come. EVERYONE I know finished getting their baby's room and the house cleaned the day before they went into labor. Including me.

I also tried bowling.... unfortunately it didn't work for me. I did have a customer swear to me that she went into labor after drinking Milk of Magnesia, but the consequences didn't seem worth the risk to me. I'm not that big a fan of diarrhea. lol

I had a 10 pound 13 ounce little girl. I tried to induce labour and eventually I needed to be induced, 26 hours in labour, and at last a c-section. That baby isn't going to come until he/she is ready. You'll be fine. It's been almost 10 months for me and I am fine.

I had preterm labor that started when i was 35 weeks but i was also given an earlier due date that if it was correct would have put me at 39 weeks. I had contractions everyday every 7 minutes but didnt start dilating till the last week. I worked 8 hour days on my feet the whole time up till 3 days before my daughter was born. I went shopping every night when i got off work, window shopping, just to walk around. I had sex, I ate pineapple, I ate spumoni ice cream I walked up and down my stairs over and over bounced on an exercise ball, did everything imaginable and still ahd to be induced. I was however at 3 and a half cm when i was induced.

stay off your back in any case - not good for you and the baby - from a psycholoical education point of view - your child has better potential academic success if you wait till full term. There is a reason doctors and teachers want to know if your baby was born early...

I used castor oil, went on walks, sex, bouncing on a medicine ball (for the longest time ever), ate prunes, spicy foods, and after about 2 days of doing all of that my water finally broke. I was 38 weeks when I went into labor. Oh my husband also has quads and the day I went into labor (before I went into labor) he took me on the back of a quad in the desert just for a quick 15 minute ride.

My son was nine pounds, I was nine pounds, my three brothers were all about ten pounds. And three out of four of my moms babies were born with no drugs. Mine was almost no drugs (until the VERY END). You will do fine. And the baby will come when he/she is ready. My water broke at the white sox/tigers game. My son was not due for another 2.5 weeks.

I took castor oil, the first time it put me into false labor, second time I went into real labor lol. you put it in Oj. a teaspoon or two and you stir it and guzzle it. Then I took a longgggggg walk a nap then when I woke up at 7 pm I took a hot bath, and went into labor at 9 had my daughter the next day at 135 in the afternoon. everyone in my family has done it and it seems to work. just dont take too much castor oil. oh and sex helps too. gets you pumped and the seamen thins out your cervix. try doing some squats after sex stretch it out. i think itll help

There are several herbs thought to be helpful in naturally inducing labor or in helping to make your contractions more regular and stronger. Some of them are:
Cramp bark
Motherwart
Blue and black cohosh
Goldenseal
Squaw vine
Red raspberry leaf
It is highly suggested that you contact a midwife with herbal experience or a licensed herbalist for full details. Failure to do so could have detrimental effects to your labor and / or child.

I would wait until 38 weeks to try anything as hes not considered full term until 38 weeks. Also what ever you do, do not take caster oil or flax oil, if they don't induce you which is highely unlikely as your body won't be ready enouth for it, it'll just give you the runs and deplete your body of nutrients (this could harm you and bubs).
Bubs may not really be that big I was huge when I was pregnant everyone thought I was pregnant with twin but most of it was fluid, on the other hand I have a friend whos naturally pitete and her 2 girls just under and just over the 10 pound mark and her son 8 pound and she did it naturally without pain relief (your Midwife/OB should let you know if they don't think they'll fit or if they think hes going to be huge.
If you do want to try some things, you should try taking evening primrose oil tablets they should get your uterus to start contracting and are safe to take from 36 weeks at the earliest (if it doesn't work it makes for a quicker easier labour) you can get it from you pharmacy and I think they recommend 3 day but I would start with 1 and work your way up, its also a great idea to take raspberry leaf tea or capsules at the same time as they help tone your uterus and prepare you cervix. Some other things you can try are sex, eating pineapple, squating and walking but I highely recommend the first suggestion of mine and also sex.

i wouldnt try anything if i were you..if your baby was 100% ready she will come on her own..so she must not be completely ready..i would rather suffer with the pain for a few more weeks then try to get my baby to come out early.

I tried everything as well, until my mother brought over a bottle of Castor Oil. She told me to put 1 teaspoon in an 8 oz glass of orange juice, run a bath a warm as i could stand it and sit in it until it got cold. I did just that, and what do you know, I went into labor that very same day. But you have to keep in mind, what works for some, doesnt work for others. I wish you the best of luck and all the happiness. Donna

my doctor reccomended that i (vaginally) insert a capsule of evening primrose (found in any walmart vitamin section) before bed every night, also wear a panty liner because the oil from the capsule may leak out later. but this is supposed to help efface the cervix quicker. and remember to walk as much as you can but dont strain yourself. good luck =]

i was telling my fiancee that day that i was going to have a baby i had already been having contractions for 45 hours and he didn't believe me for a second until my waters broke my father in law was mortafied lol he ran outta the room while my mother in law rang my mum and grabbed towels lol the funniest night ever then i had my son at 11.39pm the next night he was 2 weeks early i think that the sex and a walk brought the labor on but it doesn't work for everyone just try it and see if it works for you

Have you tried a membrane sweep? something like 75% of people will go into labor within a week of having it done and you can have your doctor do it now that you're 37 weeks. You can also try bowling lol. My sister swears it worked for her!

i think the best thing you can do is relax. i wasnt trying to induce labour but i went for a walk around the block and had sex and was in labour that night. my daughter was born the next morning at 3 weeks early. i know a lot of people who try everything to have their baby cos their impatient but i think the time acually goes longer when your waiting. your baby will come when its ready.

burn rosmary oil and take raspberry leaf tablets. rosmary oil is supposed to make you contract and so bring on labour. supposed to make labour easier too xx

your baby will come out when she is ready. i tried everything, sex, exercise, spicy foods. ym brother even had a seizure in a pool and almost died and the shock of that didn't bring me into labour. it sux but it will happen when it's time

sex. and jumping on a mini trampoline, or skating (if someone helps you). Castor oil doesn't work and it tastes like crap. tell the doctor your concerns to be induced if you're worried about it. MY doctor didn't listen to me and I ended up needing an emergency c-section after a full day of productive labor. Drink red raspberry leaf tea. It helps thins and softens the cervix. So labor won't be so long.

Rasberry leaf tea was good for me and my sister in law, and i think what triggered my labor was after cleaning the house until it didn't have a piece of dirt in it i gave myself a pampering and relaxed until about 5 in the avo and then they started that night. I'we heard it's been the same situation for a few women.

37 weeks is still a little soon... Big baby or not. Your baby will come when she is ready. My sister is a very small girl and gave birth just fine to a 9lb 1oz baby. I will tell you that sex is the only thing that worked for me by 38 weeks i was already 3 cm dlated with both of my babies which made for a very quick labor. I guess something in the mans semen naturally softens the cervix but it doesnt work for every woman. I would have long terrible contractions with my first child during the night after we had sex but the would calm down by early morning. And i hardly ever had contractions with my second until the day i went in to be induced and they thought i was already in the beginning stages of labor. Anything that gets you contracting will cause you to soften or maybe even dilate some but nothing will really throw you into labor.

I was about to eat a spicy curry but my labour started so I never ate it. See if any of them work for you. Except castor oil!!!! xxx

IT DID NOTHING! so i dont think im very much help, but just cause all those things didnt work for me, doesnt mean they wont work for you =) goodluck xx
