My son will be 1 in a MONTH! Yikes! But, I'm having a problem picking a theme, he doesn't watch tv, a few commercials get his attention and sometimes when we are eating we will turn on backyardigans or Wonder Pets. What theme did you do for your son's 1st b-day? Should I just do blue and green?

i love the monkey idea, like i said just do somthing thats special to you guys, and i think kaitlyn said there should be enough monkey decorations out there.

We did sock monkeys. It was odd enough that no one else we knew had done it. But it was really hard finding decorations. My aunt ended up making them. What we could find was very expensive. But my son had a sock monkey toy he loved

Kaitlyn, great point!! He LOVES pushing cars, balls, and that little Fisher Price phone that has the string, the eyes move, etc. So I guess cars would be a good thing to do. Other then that he is a BLANKET boy! lol
Jane, I know it's more for the parents, family and friends. I didn't want to pick just any random theme out of thin air. I'm not big on decorating the house like there was a prom here, but I'd rather there be something on the cake and maybe a pack of "themed" plates.

A first birthday party is more for the parents and their friends than it is for the one-year-old. Thus, you can pick any theme you like. The monkey theme sounds fine and so does the farm theme. In any case, all he'll care about is the cake, which he will probably destroy rather than eat.
We didn't have a theme for my kids' first birthdays. We just had a barbecue for friends and family with a cake, a few hats and a camera. By the time they were two they started to figure the birthday thing out in that they knew that friends were supposed to come over and play, but it didn't really catch on until age three. That is when they had opinions about theme, cake flavor, and so on.

Is there any toy he particularly loves? Elmo, trucks, stuffed animal, etc.? I just did blue and green for my sons 1st bdafy. We had a swim party, with kiddie pools, and I used that idea for his cake and cupcakes, but the majority of the theme was just blue and green. Monkeys would be cute though and there are several party goods w/ that theme already out there. Good luck!

I was thinking Monkeys, the majority of outfits I got at the baby shower almost all had monkeys on them.
Farm thing sounds so cute.

i had twins and they had these stuffed animals that they loved, it was a pig and a sheep so i did a farm theme. i had a cake made with a farm scene (a barn, pig, sheep, cow, tractor, etc,) it doesnt have to be somthing that everyone knows, just do something thats special to you and him if he dosent do the tv thing
