Instead of a cold wash rag try a warm one. Carrots also work great.

well my baby has just cut his 2 front bottom teeth and hes 8 months hes been teething since birth and everything i tried didnt work... calpol, teething rings, nubby teats... the only thing iv found that works is pushing really hard on the gums to help them cut the teeth... my son went to bed at 7:30pm with no teeth cut woke up at 8:30am still no teeth and then had a little nap from 11:00am till 12:30pm and the teeth were there... he obv didnt feel them coming through coz he didnt wake up once... my son is breastfed so i also tried the bonjela around my nipple it kinda soothed the pain for him i think... and expecialy now he has teeth i put it around so it numbs for when hes biting lol xx

Maybe try baby Oragel or frozen fruit, if your worried about your child possibly choking on the fruit you could try wrapping a cloth around it or look in stores for " Nuby nibblers" they work great :)

I would recommend Hylands teething tablets. They are a homeopathic blend and don't have any of those nasty side effects that 'traditional' pain killers are associated with. I used them for my youngest, relieved the pain and relaxed him. My oldest would suck on a cold, wet, washcloth, or would have frozen grapes cut into small easy to manage pieces, worked like a charm!

We'd just make sure they had cold drinks during the day and then if they got particularly cranky gave them some children's tylenol.

theres a product called a Razzbaby. It's a raspberry shaped pacifier. My son loved it for teething and until recently lost he chewed on it all the time. Like any pacifier you need to check it often to make sure it isn't coming apart, but we never had this problem. Babies R Us site will have reviews.
