Hi there, all, I have lived here for nearly 10 years, but just recently became a mommie. My baby boy is 5 months, I was just looking at the interesting things yall suggested to do with kiddos. I have 3 older stepkids and we never really have time to take them out and about, let alone the money for a family of 5+1 now. So I was looking for interesting things to do with my baby when the bigger ones aren't around(not trying to exclude them, but they do all sorts of stuff with their mom, and the baby hasn't experienced anything yet)

Hi my name is Lori and my husband and I and our 3 kids moved to San Antonio from NY 3 weeks ago. It was the best move we've ever made and we're here to stay. We live in the Bulverde area and we love it. We would love to find some activities to enroll our kids in and we would love to get involved in the community and meet other people.
Our kids are 5,7,&9. We would appreciate any info or suggestions???
Also, as I will be starting work once the kids start school I would love any info anyone has on great child care options!!!!!!!!!

My husband and I moved here to SA about four to five years ago once we graduated college- STILL dont' know anyone or have any friends-not even from work. Those that we have tried to become friends with; it seems to go well for a while, then they drop us like we're hot potatoes- we're not rude, we try and give and take with others, We have friends in other parts of texas, just not here in town.
We'd like to meet other people and we have varied interests, but can't seem to find places to meet other people our age (25-35) that have young children also. We don't have a gymboree close by and can't afford that, so any more ideas?

Yeah, I just started her in gymnastics today...at The Little Gym, and I was definitely thinking of taking her to the zoo this week again. I am looking for a church to join. We're in the Alamo Heights area. Thanks for the ideas. I'm excited to hopefully meet some people!! =)

Quoting Teresa:
Hey, we just moved to San Antonio a few months ago, and I am still having a hard time meeting people!! Any fun activities in town for two year olds?? We do the park and museums and things, but not a lot of meeting people. It's harder than I thought it'd be...
Try enrolling your child in Gymboree. I take my daughter on Saturdays, we go as a family, my hubby and I with our daughter. It does cost a montly fee but it's worth it because of what they learn and the parents you can meet and befriend.
Also, there are many churches who have mommy groups. I go to McArthur Park Church of Christ and they have Mommy and Me once a month, plus every couple of weeks they have a "Mentoring Moms" program where moms and grandmas of all ages get together to talk about being mothers and give tips to newer moms and they have dinner and free babysitting. They also have classes geared at young families and many activities for children not only during church but outside of it too, as group activity. I'm not sure of your religious views, but its there as a suggestion if you're interested.
Pick up a copy of "Our Kids" magazine at any grocery store and you will find lots of free programs and playdates to take your child to with plenty of opportunities to meet other parents.
I have a family membership to the local zoo. It's $65 for the whole year and they've got lots of toddler activities during the day and a whole new area dedicated to them where it's safe for them to run around and explore and get up close and personal with some animals.
Btw, welcome to San Antonio, I hope you like it here so far! It really is a friendly city with lots to do and something for just about everyone. I was born and raised here but i've lived other places too...as you can see, I couldn't stay away haha!
