Home Birth v. Hospital Birth

Is it possible that your heart failure and complications were due to the medication you were given at the hospital? It seems like women report things going wrong in hospitals, and often, its the medicines administered that cause the problems in the first place.

I never even thought of having a home birth. I don't think it's catered for in my area very well and no one I know has had their baby at home except my neighbour. I think do whatever you want. The hospital was pretty good, brang me food in labour and made sure I had enough fluids and blah blah blah took the baby away so I could sleep for most of the night. I don't think I missed out on anything by birthing in a hospital, only cleaning up a huge mess.

I had my son (now 8 months) in the hospital with a midwife, so it was kind of like using a birthing center, I had no meds of any kind, no IV, no monitor belt, and I was able to get up and walk around... It was the most amazing experience of my life and I really believe if every women was educated and had to go drug free with their fist birth then they would choose it from then on.

And I do plan to go with a home birth with my next child. After learning about natural birth vs the the "hospital experience" I am totally outraged! America has completely destroyed the beauty of birth. Women are have become scared to death of their own bodies! Women won't even consider the fact that they don't need out side help to do what should come naturally to them. I wish I could properly educate all women of how birth should really be....

I wanted a home birth with my second kid, but it cost more than going to hospital. in SA at least

Sounds like you missed an experience that could have resulted in someone's death!

My first pregnancy ended in an emergency C-sect. My second was a planned C-sect because my dr and the hospital did not allow V-bac.

For me, I think, the first baby should be in the hospital, and if everything went well, the next one can be at home. A relative lost her first baby with a home birth. I just can't recommend a home birth for everyone, but I can say that everyone is safer having their baby in the hospital.

You do what feels comfortable. It's your baby, your body....so don't let anyone convince you to have a home birth if you are uncomfortable with the idea.
