My Daughter's new friend at school has celiac disease.....
My Daughter's new friend has celiac and I am trying to find out what I need to do in order to have her come over and play safetly.
I do beleive from her mum that her condition is quiet intense, but I think my biggest difficulty is understanding the facts without coming across as being over concerned and/or over questioning the details, since I need to communicate in a second language ( as I live in Hollland).
I would appreciate some advise and tips from mums who have more knowledge, so that this is not a roadblock to this new friendship.
Thanks for your advise
Jennifer

Be up front with the mom of the celiac girl. Ask questions. I know the more questions asked means to me that others care for my child and want to help us. There are different routes to take. The girl could bring all of her own food and keep it in a safe place so that it won't get cross contamination or you could find treats that are gluten free such as popcorn, some candy (I am sure USA candy is different that what you have available). A mom of a celiac will never be offended by friends inquiring of the disease.
I agree with Jennifer. I love when people ask questions. It reassures me that they take it serious. I usually send everything with my daughter. There is another conversation on here that I just commented on that tells how we hate when people "think" they understand and don't. I would be up front with her and start the relationship off good!
