How is Everyone doing?
Now that the "back-to-homeschool" newness has worn off for the year, just wanted to check in and see how everyone is doing.
We've had some adjustments here these past few weeks. Some outside distractions got us a little off-track, but also my husband has really been given the burden to take over the majority of education for our eldest son (12). It was a big decision as he works 40+ hours a week, but he feels God calling him to model Biblical manhood for our sons. Before he was teaching both boys Bible and history and science and I did math, language and electives. Now, however, he wants more one-on-one to really teach our eldest son to be a strong man for God. And in a few years when our youngest son is older he will also take over the majority of his education.
So, the transition hasn't been perfect, but through God's grace we are getting there. :)
Otherwise, we are simply enjoying the cooler temps. We've been apple picking and had a playdate at the park with our homeschool co-op today (after classes).

Everything is going great. My oldest girl at home (just turned 17) decided she wants to finish school a year early so she has been working so hard. In turn that made my 15 yr old son want to aim at finishing a year earlier and he has really been working very hard too.
My 12 year old is just happy working at her normal pace right now :)
Tam, sounds like you are blessed with a husband that takes his calling very seriously:)
We are sort of in the routine of things now... its the record keeping that stresses me...I know I make it more exacting/ more seriously than some others do....(it is my responsibility though).
Well, your state may have more requirements than others too Anna. Don't be so hard on yourself!!
We were doing great until the first round of colds hit. Now we're trying to recover and get back into the groove ;-) I also stopped Teach Your CHild to Read in 100 Easy Lessons with my 4 year old and switched to HOP. I know lots of moms really like that book but that's strike two for us.
We had our first "co-op" Friday. We had gym, craft, and music and split the kids in three different age groups. I "taught" gym and had a few moms say that was their kid's favorite activity. But I missed out on the mom's socialization time ;-) Thank Goodness for Circle of Moms!!
yea for com's! with our second round of colds/yuk, I've taken it easy this week. And I took some time to rewatch this:
A great reminder of how to nutritionally support our ability to focus. Really worth watching all the way through!
Sorry the link to the google video didn't work. Here's the preview from youtube. The whole thing is on google video, just search for Russel Blaylock...Its the Nutrition and Behavior one:)
Halleluyha Acres (a Christian Vegan group) claims that any sugar will impair your immune system in half for a few hours!!!
That's Malkmus right? (I tend to lean toward the Nutritional Degeneration and Nourishing Tradition books, although i like a lot of what Malkmus has to say. I have a couple of his books, too.
I heard 1 teaspoon of sugar will set your immune system back by 6 hours!
