Thrifty Moms shop in charitable thrift stores and save thousands on their annual family budgets. They often find items with the original retail price tag still dangling from the item. Their children love shopping at thrift stores because they can actually buy things with their allowance and that is an empowering experience for a child that evokes a worthy pride. In late October, 2008 Amy Hardin Turosak (nom de plume, Shopping Golightly) started a blog, The Thrifty Chicks, to encourage more people to participate in the reuse market. There is also a Petition for National Thrift Store Month on Facebook. Consider joining this worthy cause. Amy is a stay a home mom with two young daughters so thrifting makes a big difference in a family of hour with one income. We have a petition on Facebook for National Thrift Store Month that is hungry for names, just do a Facebook search and join the cause.
