Has anyone ever made their own baby food? I am looking into it. Wondering if an electric or non electric food mill was the best. And any other info I may want to consider before investing into making my own food. thanks for your comments!

It has ben a really long time since i did this . Our youngest is almost 21 years old. My reasons for doing this was because I was a Home Child Care Provider and I had two other babies plus my own that were 6 weeks apart.  I used a hand grinder mainly because they did not have electric grinders that were not really expensive. The non electric worked fine. for our daughter I would grind what ever we were eating and thin  it with half apple juice and half water. I was nursing and she could not tolerate any of the formulas available.  I found if I used breast milk it did odd things to the food. It would become way to thin before she was finished eating Because of food allergies I did go through the commercial baby foods first. I found they were easier to give only one food at a time . Once I knew she could eat the said food i used regular food. I also did this for the other babies. I kept some commercial food on hand incase what I was fixing for the family was not something she could eat, or if we were going to be on vacation or away from home during her meal time. I even used regular apple juice. I only added water to thin it. Just remember to not feed from a dish of food you are going to store in the refrigerator for later.

No problem! Looks like we're both doggy lovers, LOL. The baby food thing is advice my mother gave me.

I used a blender, and then would freeze the portions in icecube trays. Once frozen I would divy them up into baggies. This way I could prepare in advance, and take out only what I would need for the following day. It was GREAT!! Saves a tonne of money, the best thing is knowing exactly what your child is injesting.
