both my kids, 4 and 18 months did not walk until 15 months or so. He is crawling though so I wouldn't worry. All kids go at their own pace.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry. First off, boys tend to do things later than girls. Secondly, it will probably take him 2-3 more months before he has walking down. Don't stress. Let him progress naturally and he will be fine.

Hi, I'm new to the community. My son is also 13 months and is barely walking. He takes a few steps here and there on his own, but I think he feels like crawling is faster. All will happen in its own time. I'm not worried about it. It's totally normal and some babies take a little longer. Encourage walking by walking w/ baby, or letting baby use one of those push cart thingys or a few steps to reach for something baby wants out of your hand. Boys in general are slower at things than girls and babies are quirky :) They do things when they're ready.

My daughter did not walk until she was 2-- she had low muscle tone and had PT twice a week since she was one. On top of that, she never crawled -- she would butt scoot all over the place. Many doctor visits later, the orthopedist told me she will walk when she's ready. She is now 27 months old and running everywhere. As long as your child is progressing, he or she will get there. You may want to call early intervention -- your child may be eligible for physical therapy services that can help.

Dont stress :) My daughter didnt start walking until around 15mnths. She used to try but then realised that she had more speed on her hands & knees. Just play lots of walking games & make a big deal when he walks & let him do it in his own time. I'd be concerned if he wasnt standing at all, but it really sounds like he's doing well and juz taking his time :)

I wouldnt worry about it my daughter didnt roll over or crawl until she was 11 months and didnt walk until 13 months. He'll get there, at least he's showing signs of it.

She just gets there faster by crawling! No worries, she is practicing and will get it soon. My son was 15 months before he walked, then it was straight to running! He also didn't fall a lot, as he waited til he was confident and ready. Now he just runs everywhere :)

you have abolutly nothing to worry about debbie. i am a quaified nursery teacher who specialises in 0-3yrs old and he is perfectly normal. we usually say if they are showing NO signs of walking by 18months to contact your health visitor and have a chat about your concerns but as he is able to take a few unaided steps at a time i don't think you have anything to be worried about he is just taking his time lol!!

if he is doing that then he can walk he just finds it easer to crawl. once he realizes that is actually easer to walk, he will. just let him do it in his own time

My 14 month old just started walking. Like everyone else said, it's normal, and it's only a concern if they are not walking by 18 months.

It will happen and look out when it does. My daughter didn't actually crawl until she turned one. She crawled for two months and at 14 months she stood up, started walking and hasn't stopped.

My daughter is just about 14 months and also isn't walking consistently. It's normal. The concern comes in after 18 months if they're still not walking. You just have to keep encouraging them each time they take a step and they'll get it.

Yeah, sometimes it takes a while to build that confidence. At least he's trying! My daughter didn't walk until almost 15 months, showed little interest before that. They say that up to 18 months is "normal", so he still has time!

Hello Debbie,
My daughter was close to 16 months before she started walking. She started walking a little like yours and kept dropping to the floor. No worries, your little one is on his way. Just be patient because he will soon be on the go. And my 6 year old was 15 months before he started walking. No worries....soon you won't be able to keep up with him.

Do not worry one bit, they all do it in their own time, my first started at 14 months and my second at 10 months.

I wouldn't worry too much - my son didn't walk until 16 months. He is now 3 1/2 and is just fine!
