Our pediatrician suggested a couple of things. Fiber gummies and Metamucil crackers for a dietary help. Both the Fiber gummies and the Metamucil crackers are fiber supplements. They do not contain laxatives. The second was to put baking soda into their bath. A tablespoon per gallon of water. It has worked well for my son.

Prunes and fruit juice work really well for my girl! I just buy and keep handy the pureed prunes from Gerber or you can get dried prunes or apricots and let her eat them like that or boil them to soften them up! I would recommend that before ever saying its okay to give a laxative to a child.
