2 and a half yr old still teething? when did yours get all their teeth?

my son started teething at 3mths but didnt break his first tooth until he was 4mths and has been slow to get all his teeth, we are still waiting for the last 4 molars to break thru in the last week or so the tell tale signs are there, the dribble, red cheeks, sore ears etc he has a massive lump that seems to move everyday but they seem to just not wanna break thru... what age did ur kids get their last set and i was wondering should i take him to see a dentist yet?

thanks girls i really appreciate it :) i cant wait for it to be over just hope it happens soon cos they r causing him so shit at the moment and worst of all its really hard to get a finger in there and check with out having it bitten!! hes never had trouble with eating n chewing he use to gum a rusk in about 2 mins but since its been 8 or 9 mths since his last tooth coming in im not sure if he remembers that it wont last long.... have been giving him his tooth brush to chew on as he loves doing his teeth and that seems to help abit so i guess i will just wait it out :)

My father in law is a dentist and my son was EXTREMELY slow to get his teeth. He is 3.5 now and just finish fully cutting his 2 yr old molars. Honestly, there is nothing to worry about. I asked my FIL relentlessly but he said that the longer they take for their teeth to come in usually the healthier they are. Some kids have to cut teeth early to be able to eat more solid foods to be able t o get the proper nutrition. He will get them. No worries!!

I don't think you need to worry, especially since you can see signs that the last 4 are getting ready to come out. I know two little kids that were late like that, one is 3 now and just got his last molar, and the other just turned two and doesn't even have both eye teeth yet. My son luckily had all his teeth when he turned two, I don't miss the teething one little bit!

My son went to his first appointment about 2, 2 1/2 and he already had problems. I think a lot of his has to do with genetics and he got his fathers bad teeth so we started taking my daughter as soon as she had teeth. I think her first appointment was around 10 months.

thanks Katherine almost all of the others in his daycare have all of theirs and his team leader was a bit surprised when i told her about signs being there of his moving :)

I took my daughter to the dentist for the first time at 3. U of M (MI) recommends taking them at 6 months which I think is ridiculous! You can wait or take him. My daughters were slow too. In fact I don't think my 2nd got all of her's until she was 2.5. So no worries.
