Hello everyone! This is my first time posting. I am writing about my wonderful, beautiful 2 and a little bit year old daughter, Paige. Starting at 6 months, Paige essentially stopped growing and continued to fall off her growth chart. She's been through tests for Celiac Disease (3x), Crohn's, Cystic Fibrosis, Hyperthyroidism and many more. Over the last year is when the testing began to really intensify as her immune system is very low. Basically every time she gets a stomach flu or the classic rotavirus, she needs to be hospitalized. In one incident, she lost 5 lbs in a matter of days which is enormous when you only weigh 19 lbs and are nearly 2 years old to begin with. She is currently seeing her pediatrician every 3 months to get weighed and her measurements taken and is also being seen by a pediatric endocrinologist at the Alberta Children's Hospital because in her last course of blood work, her human growth hormone or insulin growth factor came back under 25 and the reference ranges is 55 - 327. The pediatric endocrinologist said that while this is very much a possibility, she doesn't exhibit the typical symptoms of human growth hormone deficiency. Normally, they only have a short stature, not delayed weight gain and she is advanced for all of her developmental milestones. We are currently waiting to do more intensive testing at the Children's Hospital that will consist of Paige being on an IV and receiving chemicals to make her growth hormone react and while doing this, have blood taken every 15 minutes for an hour to measure the growth hormone being released as well as bone scans as children with growth hormone deficiency typically have smaller bones than "regular" children. I am wondering if there is any other moms out there that have experienced the same thing? My daughter is very intelligent for her age and everywhere I go, I get shocked responses about the size of my daughter. She still fits in 6-12 month clothing and will be 2 1/2 in August. It's not only her height and weight that are affected - her hair does not grow normally nor do her feet. Essentially, she is a 2 1/2 year old trapped in a 1 year olds body. Currently, Paige measures approx 20 lbs and 29 1/2" tall. Her birth weight was 6 lbs 14 oz and 21" long. Anyways, is there anyone else out there going through the same thing?

Hi everyone
My DD was born 29th july 2010 at 5 pounds 15 ounces n 17 inches/43 cm(below 3rd percentile)..in addition her arms n legs were small too(but not freakishly)..v didnt even notice it until doc mentioned...uhh the struggle started frm there...v went to genicist they hav done achorndoplasia, hypochondroplasia, MPS n CHH...v had gone to immunology to check her immune system(mouth sores often was the reason)..everything came baq normal...she wonderful in every aspect...she started walking 11 months...hav started making two word sentence now...all milestones just perfect she is just small even smaller than ur kids...she was 63.5 cm in march n a lil less than 16 pounds...i m scared of measuring her now as i think she has might not increased n its gona disheart me...she has small little fingers too...if i can get n e feedback wat u guys are going through will be appreciated..:)

I know this post is almost a year old but, I'm wondering what you have found out about your little girl. My little mister has been tested for all the same things. He is 26 months old and is 22 pounds and 30 inches, not even on the charts. We have seen oncologists, endocrinologists, g.i., infectious disease doc's, pulmonologists, geneticists, you name it... He constantly has croup and gets a sickly sweet smell to his breath. We are still waiting on the last batch of tests. He has been through so many! The only thing we know so far is he has the bones of a 12 month old. He wears 6-9 month clothes. We are going on the third summer with the same clothes!

Just wondering if you have had any success with a diagnosis.

My daughter was born 6lbs even and 21 1/2 ", at 2 she was 21 lbs and 32" She will be 3 in august and she is 23 lbs and now 34". She is still wearing the same summer closes she wore the last two summers (pants are too short so only dresses and shorts and shirts). My Dr. thinks nothing is wrong with her she used to be 90%'s for height after birth at a year she dropped down to like 10% and has stayed there. I'm 5 ft tall so maybe that's whey he thinks she's healthy nothing is wrong. As far as hair many friends have had basically "bald" girls until age 4 or 5. I wish you the best of luck and they can find a problem if any, but I also as a child was very tiny and they kept telling my mom there must be things wrong with me and I would be a dwarf, short life, blah blah blah, I'm 32, healthy, have a child and am 5' so not a dwarf. Just was a very dainty child.
