My 3 year old daughter chews on absolutely everything! I don't know what to do to break her of this habit. It gets to be completely disgusting b/c she chews on her hair and it smells. She chews on her blanket and it is stained even though I wash it all the time. She's also biting her nails and sometimes they get so short that they are sore. I am constantly telling her to get things out of her mouth... toys, paper, books, fingers, toes, clothing, and more. She's destroyed some of her books, toys and clothes. Anyone else in the same boat? Any suggestions?

Hi, my son is 3, he doesn't chew on everything but he puts stuff in his mouth constantly. I looked into it and talked to a lot of people and the pediatrician and I found out that it is a concentrating thing. When they chew on something or put something in their mouth, if you can't get them to stop give them something else to distract them. Or keep them doing something where both hands are busy. Good Luck!

My son has autism and does the same thing, I have tried to redirect him into eating something good for him but he would rather chew on the desk, arm of the chair, tv stand , table, cords or metal blinds. I am at a loss.
