MY boy is 6 months old and only seems to poop once or twice a week! We changed his formula once, but that didn't seem to help. I've done diluted prune juice, but that just seems to make him gassy. I need Ideas.

My daughter is 2 and since she was born she has always had a problem with constipation. I have tried a lot of things, but applesauce works really well, especially since he is just 6 months old, you may also want to try a soy type formula, warm tubs and rubbing their belly sometimes works.

If you have started feeding him solid foods maybe try making an all bran muffin, but be warned the diapers will be really messy. We also put her on her stomach, which seemed to work too.

it is what you are feeding him...doctors push food at this stage but a lot of kids can't handle it or need it introduced really slowly...try giving him prunes with every meal, about a tablespoon...you can mix it in other food or feed it straight whichever he likes...go online and google baby and costipation to get a list of common foods that cause constipation...you can also offer some water to help...i would use the cheaper formulas without all the special stuff in it, like use purple can of Parents Choice as it is milder and less irritating than some of them...all the best www.virtuesvillagellc.com

i know when all else fails, try using a sliver of bar soap (always use a new clean bar of soap). it makes them poop. You have to stick it in their bum. really it works

My daughter was suddenly constipated a lot when she turned 6 months and it was a difficult time for both of us. The doc reccommended using a suppository for immediate relief (vasoline on the end of the suppository helps). I would also use a teaspoon or two of miralax in her drink every day until she had a bm, and we switched her formula from Similac to Carnation Good Start. All in all, eventually she became regular again but it took a few weeks.

They have some stuff like at Walmart that you can get, i don't remember the name but it is either the baby section or the pharmacy area depending on how your walmart it set up... It is suppose to help with constipation, and have given it to my girls to help them out...

Also maybe you can try some apple juice... I know my youngest prune juice doesn't help... but if i give her apple juice it does... Hope i helped out somehow...
