I just made this for my son yesterday and I am so happy with the results...
..The best natural home-made remedy is to slice a RED onion and put in on their bed side table at night...it works wonderful with my 4 years old...after 20 minutos he could finally sleep through the night!!!!

You could also make some onion syrup...it helps a lot too....just slice a couple of onions put a layer in a jar or bowl, put half lemon juice then cover it with sugar on top of it then another layer of onion and again sugar, Cover it and leave it rest all night (8hr to 12 hours) and then save the syrup....If you like could put some honey too but it depends on you... Give 1 or 2 spoons of the syrup to your toddler around 3 times a day and you will see....no medicines or side effects 100%
If you prefer not to give him anything just try with the onion in their bedroom at night....the results were great with my son!

There are a few things you can do. When they get a cold/cough and can't sleep through the night, put quite a bit of vick's on their feet and cover them with socks. I have no idea why it works, but shortly after you do it, they stop coughing for the rest of the night. Also, once summer ends and fall starts, you and the boys should take vitamin D and vitamin C. Try to look for your vitamins individually, as opposed to a multi-vitamin. Walmart and Shoppers Drug Mart have a great line of vitamins. For your youngest you can mix it with juice. My girls (3 & 4), take vitamins all year.

a tspn. of honey before sleeping at night.will work wonders.in the morning a spn. of lemon juice mixed with honey and lil.ginger,at night rub vicks on the chest and feet and make them wear socks,rub nilgiri oil on the bed sheet or pillow cover before sleeping,roast ajwain in the tawa and once the fragrance comes powder a little and tie in small thin cloths or napkins and then put around their sleeping area.try these and something will surely work out.all the best!

I use garlic to fight off colds and flu. Raw for adults (1tsp crushed) and in capsule form for the kids. My boys love the "golden pills." They take two or three with meals and snacks (it doesn't sit well in an empty stomach). Garlic has antiseptic, antibiotic and antiviral properties. If I start it early enough on myself and take it 3 to 4 times a day I can usually fight off a cold/flu before it gets too nasty and in the boys we fight off a cold in a handful of days.

My son had bronchitis when he was 3 months old and he always get congested and coughy in the winter months. Depending on the type of cough, you could try a humidifier in the room. If its a dry hacking cough this helps, but if it's a phlegmy cough you should avoid it. Warm water and sugar (for taste) helps to soothe a scratchy throat if you don't want to give your kids tea. Doc says tea is alright but I was wary of the caffeine content.
