i put my DD in a toddler bed when she was 15 months old since she climbed out of her crib all the time at 14 months old. at 18 months old, her toddler bed has a recall on it, so we just bought a twin bed and she has been on it since then!

At 32 months I just put my daughter in a toddler bed. She started refusing to go to bed in a crib anymore. I found it best to wait until they are ready to move into a big bed. I've never had any battles with keeping her in her new toddler bed. I moved my sun into a toddler bed at about the same time too.

I had my son in a toddler bed at 12 months. If they can walk and get in and put of bed then he is ready

we put ours from a crib into a queen sized bed because he's a tosser and turner and would roll out of his toddler bed. His bed is probably too big for him, but he loves it.

I always changed them into a toddler bed when thy started climbing out of their crib. My oldest son was the hardest cause he started doing it at 9 monthes and he coulld get out of his car seat no matter what I did. I would drive do the road and look in the rearview mirror and there he was standing up saying hello.

Both my girls went to a toddler bed at 18 months. That was about the time they decided that the crib rail was a climbing wall and kept climbing out of the crib and falling onto the floor. (Never got hurt, but it was a safety precaution)

if you think hes ready he probally is. all mine were in beds really early two of them before a year just. when they can walk around they normally start to climb and thats when they fall out of the cot. much better in my opinion to have them in a low bed or mattress on the floor that if they fall out of its inches to fall rather than a cot which is feet. if your house is safe leave the door open if not use a stair gate or monitorso you can hear them. my youngest is 15 months and went into a bed just before she was 1. shes happy and if she gets really tired even gets in bed herself.

My son was about 15 months old. He started trying to climb out of the crib at 14 months and as our pediatrician put it, "better he wander around his room at night than end up with broken bones falling out of the crib." But he really had no problem staying in bed. He loves his big boy bed. First we put the mattress on the floor because we had no money for a toddler bed, and he tended to role out a lot but stayed asleep. As soon as we got the toddler bed with rails he has stayed put completely. It's actually kinda nice because a lot of mornings when he would have been in the crib crying for me to get up, he just gets himself up andplays with his toys for a little while longer. His bedroom is completely safe and baby proofed. Dresser and shelf secured to the wall, outlets covered, all that. We have a safety latch on the door so he can't come out and wander the rest of the house.

My son has been in a toddler bed since about 16 months. He wasnt really a climber, but we decided he needed a bit more freedom, from his crib. He's now 2 and a half and we have moved him into a twin size bed. He sleeps in it fine, no side rails... and he never falls out of the bed. If you thing he's ready for it, do it!

I think it really depends on the child, their size, stability with walking and making clear what they want... it is important to have handrails that the child can breath through and even something on the floor in order to protect them if they fall.... The answer in this case is when you feel that you and your child are ready!!

I put my son into a toddler bed at 9 months and a twin bed at 18 months. I have not had any bedtime nightmares and actually he sleeps better. If your son can handle a toddler bed with ez than you can try a bigger bed. Worse case senerio, you switch back to a smaller bed.

As soon as they start trying to climb out of a crib. Honestly it is a lot less of a fall from a toddler bed to the floor than from the top rail of a crib. We started mine off at nap times so that I could make sure they understood that just like in the crib when it is bed time they need to stay put. It worked great!

That all depends on your child. Some children are ready at 1, some arent ready until they are 4.
I put my son in a 'big boy bed' on his 2nd birthday. I did it like that so it looked like a big prezzie and he wouldnt be afraid of it.

Our son went into his big boy bed at 16mths.
He wasn't climbing out of his cot, but he slept 100 times better in our bed, or any bed for that matter. Plus, he doesn't stop moving all night long, and was constantly whacking himself into the sides of the cot.

It usually depends on your child, I heard that when your child starts climbing out of there crib, is when your supposed to get them there own bed.

Each kid is different. My guideline for my little guy was when they could climb out of the crib, they were done with it. I didn't want to deal with any injuries from that! I know a lot of people who waited until 2yo or more, but there's really no hard or fast rule, just what works for your little one and your family :)

If your son can climb on the couch then i would recommend a toddler bed. The earlier you start the easier its going to be in the long run. Just make sure that in the beginning if he keeps on getting out of bed you just put him back nicely and tuck him in. It might take awhile at first but its well worth it.

If he is climbing out of the crib...... it is time for a big boy bed. You don't want to take the chance of him getting hurt. Just remember stay firm with staying in his bed.

im putting my son in a toddler bed next week :D he's 17 months and unfortunately we wanted to wait until he was 2 but the cot is not going to last that long and i can't afford a new one and while he can't get in or out of his cot he can scale the outside when the sides are up (or down but he sees up as a bit of a mt everest of sorts) i seem to think this is going to be a safer option for all involved...im terrified that cot is going to collapse in the middle of the night

Well we thought about putting him in a big boy bed about then as well, but then he stopped climbing out of bed. Now we are running into bed time trouble and am thinking about a big bed as well. But he just turned two recently. It all depends on your son.

I would wait as long as possible. If you do it now, you're going to have to keep him from getting out of his bed at an age when he's nearly impossible to reason with.
What's your rush?

Its depends on your son! My little one was a climber so we put her in a toddler bed at 16 mons cause she was escaping her crib! Then at 2 1/2 we put her in a twin sized bed. Good Luck!
