Babbles! when will his speech improve?

My 2yr old son still doesn’t talk and make babbles. I’m sure he doesn’t have any ear problems. Though some words are recognizable like for example when he calls ‘Barney’ – ‘Ba-ni’ or ‘SpongeBob’ as’ pa-pop’. He can also say some simple words like baby & dada, sometimes daddy; he also imitates sounds of animals. I sometimes think that he’s on his way & just wait till he’s ready but I still can’t help but worry. Some of my friends’ toddlers can already say some words clearly now, some are younger than him. So I tried baby signing time, it’s almost 2 months now. He’s doing pretty well with signing but still doesn’t talk. Speech classes for toddlers here in Philippines are not so available, especially where I live. I don’t know what else I can do. Any advice pls?

give it time, my son just turned two and I noticed he was behind all his friends in speech. One week he started adding a couple of words, now it seems like every week he says more and more. I also do baby sign and he does great with that. My sons language is mostly understandable by us and I think this is normal. I wouldn't worry, some kids are late bloomers!

He sounds like a normal 2 year old to me. My daughter Just turned 3, she didn't start talking well until she was about 2-21/2 and now she is doing very well. My cousin's baby is 21/2 and he can only say a few words, his parents are getting him speech therapy, but they have alot of money, my niece is 5 and she is very far behind she has just started talking speech therapy. If you let him be around alot of other kids I am sure that will help, my nephew was a little behind, when he started preschool when he was 3 he started picking up words very quickly.

Have you tried voicing your concerns with your pediatrician? That would be my first step. Because honestly some of the opinions or advice you get may worry you and it turn out to be that he is just a late bloomer! Also if he is still on a bottle or pacifier they sometimes affect clarity of speech.
