My 2 year old daughter has just started sleeping in her own bed. She wants me or her dad to lay with her until she falls asleep. The problem is, some nights my husband works late and I have a 3 month old to put to sleep also. Any suggestions on how to get her to lay in bed by herself?

I used to love to have my parents lay in bed with me until I fell asleep! Then my mother decided that I was old enough to do it alone and bought me night light to help because I was afraid of the dark. Unfortunately, the nightlight illuminated a scary looking doll so I was even MORE afraid. So I started bringing ALL my stuffed animals into bed with me and lining them all around me like little soldiers. Is she afraid of being alone? Does she like feeling you or your husband next to her? If you can find out or figure out what it is she wants, it may be easier to solve.

Oooh don't start going with her to her bed. She'll never stop trying to get you to continue. Give her something warm and soft that smells like you, like a favorite blanket. Hug it and show her she can hug it for comfort to sleep with.

My son started to sleep in his own bed also but I have to put on Blue's Clues on the TV to put him to sleep. You could try to play a movie or cartoon she likes so she will stay in her bed and watch until she falls asleep. Hope it helps; let me know if you try
