Can someone please help me? My 3 year old seems like she has ocd. Is this normal?

I have a 3 year old daughter, she is obsessed with organizing everything. She spends all day lining up things all through the house in a straight line, and if you mess up her line of things she has a meltdown. I started noticing the strange behavior when she was almost 2 and it is getting worse as she gets older. She has ADHD, but I wasnt sure if this was normal behavior. I currently do not have her on any medication because I think she is too young. I would love to know if anyone else is going through this also, and if there is anything I can do to help her get it under control..Thanks!

Thanks Lori, I love the idea of the felt board! I will try that with her, but its hard to play with her alot of the time because she is in her own little world, and she doesnt actually "play" she mostly spends the day organizing and reorganizing things. One day it might be every pillow in the house and the next day it might be every single book in her bookshelf. She does it from the time she gets up until the time she goes to bed, and she is only focused on what she is doing. The only time she doesnt do it as much is if she is watching cartoons and sometimes she does it while watching. And Cleaver..she has the same exact behavior as your brother, except she doesnt show any signs of turrets.

ADHD, OCD, and turrets are kind of interlinked together if you have one you have then all sometimes it doesnt show but its there ill giver you a personal experiance

my brother now 17 we found out he was ADHD when he was young he used to do that same thing line up all his cars now he sorts and resorts his hockey cards (OCD) and he does this weird click in his throat, he used to repeat everything he said in a whisper he used to bite his shirts when he was angry (turrets)

Don't medicate ... Work with her and do a lot of one on one activities that involve organizing and estimating and then try to through in some more open end activities where she can basically do what she wants with the materials you provide... For instance, finger paint and paper, playdough ... Just one color and one carving tool and a small rolling pin, a felt broad with pieces that don't relate to each other, like one barn, a person, a house, a sun, an umbrella, a rainbow , a snowman ... I would be interested to know what she does with these sorts if activities and/or if she will be interested at all.
