I live in Bc Canada firstly. We live with my mom and she just redid her whole kitchen. My son is 17 months old and is obsessed with going into the cupboards so I got some of the sliding locks. My question is what do I do about the drawers. Understandably she doesn't want to drill holes in her new drawers or use locks that have the sticky tape. Anyone else know of anything else we could try (besides waiting for him to grow out of this stage?)

We did the same thing until my daughter was almost 2. Even without the gate she doesn't go in the kitchen unless we invite her in to help us make something.

thanks ladies...I just went out and bought a large baby gate...lol. This actually works better because I don't like him in the kitchen while anyone is cooking!

I thought there was some kind of device that you could put in that would only allow them to be opened a little bit until you released the safety. I don't know if they require drilling or not. You could also try the things that loop into the handles and then there is a lock in the middle. They look like a bow tie almost. Here's a link:http://www.amazon.com/Safety-1st-00510C-...

My mom also has a new house and when we go there, she uses dish towels and ties them on the handles of the drawers tightly so that if they wanted to open one, they would have to open the one above at the same time but since they don't understand that, they just think that it's not opening and move on. Works for now anyways.
