my son will be two next month and i think he's about ready to be potty trained. we bought the potty when he was 18 months because i started to notice he realized when he was peeing in his diaper. he has gone pee/poop on the potty a few times but he wasn't able to tell me when he had to go so we stopped. i figured i wasn't going to push him. so now he's started taking off his diaper, and even peed on the floor in the kitchen the other day before i noticed his diaper was gone! now that his potty is old news he doesn't have much interest in sitting on it at all, he'd rather hide his toys in it, i don't know if i should hide if for a month or so and then bring it back out or buy a new one, but i really think he's ready to start. any advice on how to go about it?

My son was ready to start training at 18 months, but I was working full-time and daddy was laid off at home and didn't want to do it. Since I couldn't take the time off, he had to wait. I trained my son at 28 months in 3 days.

Signs that he showed:

- Dry waking up from naps

- Peeing just a little in his diaper and wanting it changed

He never told me he had to go potty, that is something you have to help teach your child to "understand". If you can put your child in a t-shirt and underwear, spend every minute with them throughout the day without interruptions and catch when your child starts to go potty and scoop them up to go potty - your child will soon recognize what it means to have the "urge" to go potty.
