Do docotors always give us the best advice?

My 14 month old baby girl has had 3 ear infections in the last 3 months, so I took her to our family doctor today because I think she has another one coming and he told me that her ear tube is blocked and to use saline drops in her nose. He also then told me her runny, stuffed up noses are from being in daycare. Now this is my 3rd child and I know when my kids are sick and to me having a runny nose constantly is not normal. My 2 boys also went to daycare and never had the runny stuffed up nose that she does and my middle boy had asthma. Mind you my boys never suffered from ear infections either. SO no I dont know if I should take her in for a second opinion or if I am just being slightly paranoid? I am also very proactive and have no pets and I have humidifiers in the kids rooms and they are all on multi vitamins.

second opinion!! I have switched ped's 3 times and finally found one I like. Each time a switched ped's I got different advice and was told different things from his ear infections, to immunizations to his development. I have also found since my insurance has switched 3 times to include a 6 month time of no insurance that the quality or coverage played a part on what docs would tell me. Im starting to think of docs like mechanics or lawyers.

i soooooooooo feel ur pain with having a child with ear infections, my almost 29mth old son just had a bout of gastro that lead to his immune system shutting down and hime getting a middle ear infection in both ears and bronchitis on top :(

i am an ent (ears nose and throat child/adult) my mum never had problems with my brother but i had grommets/ tubes in both ears and numerous sinus flushes and two drillings for my lower sinuses as a child as an adult i know when im sick it wont take long to turn into a bacterial infection and i dont go to day care!! my son does yes and the viral infection he got (anfd gave to me and dad) wasnt to bad until he got gastro from there, but after docs and antibiotics hes on the mend

your daughter might just be prone to ear infections and she may benefit from grommits/ tubes but get a second diagnosis, it wont hurt and it will help you!

yes they get shit at daycare its normal but if its reoccuring then seek other assistance, until then good luck with a grizzle grump and know your not alone oxoxox

if its any consolation i'm glad i can now pick with in a day of me geting a cold that needs antibiotics cos i can usually beat it and its a big help ox

Does it really hurt to have a second opinion?? I don't think so, its your child, you know them best so if your feeling like the nose running etc is excessive and your not completely satisfied with your doctors answers yes I would go to another doctor. I would even google it( I do that for alot and still ask the doctor.) Good Luck its always hard when our babies are not feeling 100%.
