My 3 year old has been picking at her nails and lips for about a month in a half now and she does it to the point that she makes her lips and fingers bleed. Anyone els with this problem and why would she be doing this?

Have you talked to her doctor about this? There are psychological issues that make people do things like this. Best of luck!

thanks Bailey.ever since she was born she would find something to pick at.it would be her eyes,fuzz,hair,anything lol so now i guess its her fingers and lips.i just think its so odd.

I haven't had that particular problem but my four year old sometimes starts little habits like that. About a month ago she started scratching relentlessly. At first I was concerned and kept asking her to stop but it kept getting worse. I ended up taking her to the doctor thinking she was having an allergic reaction to something but they said nothing was wrong. I soon realized she was not actually itching, she was trying to get attention. I started ignoring the behavior and within a few days she wasn't doing it near as often, then she started up again. I eventually told her that if she kept scratching that we were going back to the doctor and going to get a shot. She hasn't started back at it again. :)
