Does anyone have any good natural remedies for constipation?

My son who is three has had the same problem, Dr. Said Miralax (which he has been on for three years). Also, tasteless fiber put in any drink every day. Plus gummy fiber vitamins. Recently, he had such pain, I rushed him to the Dr. She said to try chewable vegetable vitamins. The combination of ALL of them is finally helping it be tolerable for him to poop. Hope is time..

Prune, prune juice, MANGOS, JUICE. My daughter always was constipated and we started her on water at about 3 months, didnt help much until I started her on juice. She ONLY drinks pear or white grape juice. She takes about 16 oz of water, with about 4oz of juice. It helps her go, but on the days that she's a little more constipated I do more like 10oz of each-water and juice. Make sure you dont give her like Mum-Mums, thats rice and constipating. No bananas. Applesauce binds too.

Prunes, the ones in the single wrappers, my daughter does think she is getting candy like the commerical says, and it always helps with her BM.

hey there my mum is ito all things natural and when my son was constipated she gave me PSYLLIUM HUSKS you get t from te health food shop it is a natural fibre and you add it to food or you mix a little with water get them to drink it really fast and it works well .

prunes are not the only one to use though. Blueberries work also my son you give him a handfull and he goes and goes. Also Apricots work for this also.

Have you tried prunes??? Prune juice.. Have you been to a gastronologist? My niece has very bad constipation until she bleeds.. It is the most horrible thing every.... I think she may have been on miralax but if that is the one I don't think they can stay on for a long period of time... I use to use karo syrup on my son but it was the light karo syrup.... Prunes or pear juice use to work good on him. Nowadays as long as he has lots of water or juice seems to be fine..

Little Remedies makes Little Tummy's in both gas drops and laxatives- the laxative works really well, but it takes a while to kick in, so don't give them more until you know for sure they need it again! Other than that, there is a product called Babylax that worked well for my boy.... good luck!

karo syrup my daughter ewas constipated as an infant and i used to give her 2tbsp mixed with her formula everynight before bed to keep her regular but the initial was 2oz of karo syrup with 2oz of water or juice and i still do that to this day at 22months n she likes it because it sweet

My daughter loves bananas so once in awhile i will make some banana-bran muffins and give those to her for breakfast or a snack when she's constipated. It seems to do the trick for her! Usually she won't eat a whole muffin in one sitting so i will give her half in the morning and if she'll let me i'll give her the other half as a snack later.

I know that everyone is suggesting prunes as a good and natural way to alleviate the constipation but that is not the only thing you can do...My daughter, now 4 yrs., has always been constipated and the prunes did help, but we found that her digestive system processes food more slowly than other children.With this problem she is keeping the digested food inside the large intestine longer than usual which makes the bowel more hard to get out. I have started her on a product called Digestive enzymes with probiotics and has alleviated every symptom. Having problems as a child also, i believe it could be genetics. She is much happier and not afraid of going anymore. The digestive enzymes helps with digesting and aborbsion of the food and the probiotics makes sure that the helpful bacteria is present in the intestine (the same as acidopholous.) try giving her some yogurt that what I have to give the little girl that i watch during the day and she is one years old and it works for her which I think sometimes too fast but it worked I hoped that helps

Avocados have some good fiber.  Fig Newtons cookies make a good dessert with fiber.  Also whole grain cereals such as Cherrios are good.

I have to give my 23 month old a sippy cup full of white grape(baby) juice every morning.  She has always had this problem too, since birth.  Best of luck to you...I know it's tough.

Canned pumpkin can help sometimes with both soft poops and constipation situations - great "bulking" agent that can help stimulate BM's (in some people - mughgt be worth a try).

yeah I would say taht prunes are the best for this sort of problem. But also make sure your child is drinking enough liquids through out the day. cheese can also constipate a child. Try giving your child lots of fruits and veggies that contain fiber. Don't worry lots of children go through this sort of thing, mine could not do number 2  for a whole week, we had to finally give her something so she could go _ I hated doing that to her but what else could I do? Also try blending fruits and veg in a blender and give it to her as a juice mix it with orange juice or prune juice she will never notice. I hope this works. Good luck with your little one.

i have the same problem with my daughter. there's prunes that are sold in a container with individually wrapped pieces and my daughter (Amber) loves them. i tried the regular container and she hated them but when my mother in-law gave me the new packages Amber gobbled them right up. she has very large hard bm's and used to scream all the time when she had to go. the dr gave us the same thing, miralax, but i was using it all the time and hated to keep her on any medicine over a long period of time. i didn't want her body to be dependent on it, so i tired everything you did. lots of fruit, prunes and juice will help. your supposed to give them half a cap full a day ... when my daughter got regular with that amount i cut the dose to a half a cap every other day and then i did a quarter cap a day, then a quarter cap every other day. now i just use it when i see her having troubles in the bathroom. I'll give it to her for a wk and then she will be fine for a while. changing her diet really helps a lot even though you might not see the results as quickly as you want to. i didn't think changed her diet would help but i surprised myself when i tried it out. i hope i helped you out somehow. i know exactly how you feel. my daughter will be three in two months and she has had a problem with her bm's ever since she was born.

have you tried prunes, , you can try the baby food pureed kind if she will eat them luckily my daughter loves them so any tiem she has a problem i give her a jar for a snack, also prune juice, mix with apple makes it taste a bit better.

Try Gerber Apple Prune Juice. It works every time for my daughter who has the same problems.
