My husband and I brought a potty for our aughter and when we went to the toliet we took her with and let her sit with a book to read and when she did something in the potty we showed it to her and made a bit fuss.  Then we got  seat for the big loo and put her on there from about 3yrs of age.

We did a reward system for our little girl. When she went pee pee she got one m&m, when she went poo poo she got two m&m's. There will be accidents but don't scold her for that. Just praise, praise, praise. You will be suprised at the small amount of time it take her to get the idea. And when she does she won't like the accidents and those will stop too.

I have to say try the small potty since it's a lot less scary to them and just get her to sit on it. Any time that she pees or poops praise her for it. Don't get mad at her for accidents cause they will happen. My daughter got really upset when she had an accident. rewarding her for using the potty helps to.

I'm struggling with this too!  My oldest daughter is now 2 years, 5 months.  She first got interested in it around 18 months, so we bought her the little potty then.  We didn't really push it, but she's had several successful attempts; we've actually had more luck with poo than pee.  Unfortunately, we work opposite shifts, so we've been very inconsistent.  Switching the kids, unloading at baby sitters, etc; it's just easier to change the diaper.  =(  (especially while also toting along a 7 month old!)  And Alaina is now asserting herself and showing her stubbornness.  She's just no longer interested in it!  I think I might try the M&M reward system suggested.  We hardly give her sweets, so maybe it might work as a special treat!  Fingers crossed!
