My 3 year old son was recently diagnosed with focal epilepsy. He is taking Keppra. So far he has not had a bad seizure. It has effected his walking and speech. Has anyone else had a child with this problem? How long did it take them to get better?

Actually, my boyfriend is on keppra as we speak. He doesn't have epilepsy but he does have a seizure disorder that they haven't been able to pinpoint where the seizures are coming from. They tried him out on Dilantin first and it was making him see things...I think that the Keppra is messing with his moods. It's making him feel more depressed than he already is and making his mood swings worse. I don't know what other medication they have for this sort of thing, but I don't like any of them so far. They are pills that mess with the chemistry in the brain and though it's supposively for a better cause I don't think they do much better.
