Ugh I need advice! We are planning our first family trip to Texas in the spring. Our daughter will be 16 almost 17 months by then. I want to drive there because it's what my parents and I use to do (I want to carry on the tradition). We would be driving from Chicago to Texas, which would roughly be around 20 some hours. My husband thinks it's going to be a total nightmare because our daughter is very active and will get frustrated during the long car ride. She's a big fan of Dora so I figured I could pop in a few dvds to keep her distracted. What should I do? Could you give me some tips or suggestions? I'm not a huge fan of flying. Did you have a similar experience with your child? How did it turn out? THANKS! =)

go out and buy a few cheap knick kacks, things she hasn't seen before to keep her occupied. the dvds are a great idea combined with plenty of food you should be ok.. If you can stop for 30 minutes to let her run around and wear herself out that would help too.
