My daughter did this as well. I assume she's inthe highchair or at the table when she does this. She may doing it out of bordom, entertainment, doesn't want to eat, or just to get a rise out of you. Whatever the cause . .. The best thing to do is to catch her hand/arm as she lifts it to throw the food on the floor and hold it firmly and tell her, "No, We eat food". I would then sit close and almost tempt her to do it again. If she tries to do it again then tell her the same thing (No, We eat food. You are all done.) Take her out of the high chair and say, "Let's clean up" Help her bend over pick up the food and teach her to throw it in the garbage. If you do this over and over again she will come to understand that it is a lot of work to do the wrong thing. Teach her the right thing to do she is still learning, be patient and you'll get through this stage. Best wishes.

That sounds like good advice, but I don't think it'd work for me. Half the battle in my house is to get him to sit still and eat his meal, so I'm sure he'd be quite pleased if I said thats it and no more. Sometimes if we're having a meal-time battle I will put him on his time-out chair and not let him move until he has x amount of bites PROPERLY without spitting them all over himself.

Quoting Mandy:
Once the food is thrown, then the meal is over. Hopefully, the food throwing will stop quickly.
Yep. :)
