If your child was left with a sitter who sent you home with training pants full of poop, not answering the phone when you call, left a child unattended, punished a child for being up at the busy road while all the other kids were in the back of the house playing and the sitter obviously not watching, watches TV all day and is on the phone or computer a lot, and says to you she couldn't find her own son ina very small apt. until she found him in the crib with our 5 month old daughter! Am I over protective or crazy? Or am I resonable? Would you keep her as a sitter?

is this a babysitter or a childminder??? i guess i'm lucky because my mum is a childminder so she takes care of my daughter when i need her to. But if she is some sort of 'proffesional' surely you can make a complaint?? Xx

Oh wow yep i would be out of there!!! Plus a daycare provider should tend to every one of them kids not just herself wow im a daycare provider myself and i would never think of sending a kid home with dirty pants and with another child in the crib is soooo dangerous!! Well I hope it all works out for in the end!!!!

Ok after thinking, get out now, report her and tell the other parents even if you have to sit outside and wait for them, then LASTLY tell her why you are leaving. Always trust your gut. Too many women ignore it and regret it. This is nothing to have regrets about.

Get them the hell out of that daycare. You would never forgive yourself if anything happened and it sounds like it is only a matter of time until it does. You are not over protective you a being a normal parent.

The only acceptable one of those things would be not answering the phone when you call since she may be in the middle of tending to a child, but I would expect a return call w/in a reasonable amount of time.

Do you even have to ask that question? Really? Get your kids out of there ASAP!

have you talked to the provider about this. I would tell her your concerns and let her know if this keeps happening you will be finding someone else to watch your child. She should at leat change the pants before you left the house. You are a resonable concerned parent. Is this provider licensed. If so you could contact the people that gave her her license and tell them whats been happening.

Hell no! We just went through this in December, I know good carecare is hard to find, But these are things that she has allowed you to see. What happens behind closed doors? Get your children out of there. In our situation my daughter was left in a crib all day. I got off work early and came in unannounced, 6 hours after I dropped my daughter off she was in the same diaper I left her in. She had a rash on her bum on a couple occasions that was so bad it looked like she had been in a tanning bed. If your having thoughts something is wrong. I wish you all the best with your situation

I would find a new sitter ASAP. Sounds likes this person isn't responsible enough to be doing daycare.

I would definately talk to the other parents and find out if this a widespread issue. I certainly hope there is no pool around. Oh and also in my opinion when it comes to a womans' child there is no such thing as out of preportion when it comes to their safety, especially when regarding child care providers.

thank you everyone for all your support. I sometimes feel I blow things out of proportion and this I let it go with a few things even though it was with other parents children whom I don't get a chance to speak with to ask their opinion. Hopefully my showing disapproval will help her realize she needs to be more observant of the things she does for the other kids under her care.

You are not crazy, I would be switching in a heart beat. Guess I got a little spoiled when my sister in law watched my son b/c she would rinse his clothes out and even wash them only b/c she would keep the extra set at her house....

Absolutely not! Any one of those things (let alone all of them comined) would make me reconsider leaving my child with them. You need to feel confident that the people who are watching your child will take care of them as you would. I pulled my daughter from a home daycare in Feb because she was constantly sick while attending - obviously things weren't being cleaned as the kids got sick. She's now in a daycare center and much healthier and happier! Good Luck!

NO WAY. I fired a sitter for less than that. Your baby is just that, your baby and you need to know when you leave her/him there and go to work, that you don't have to worry about their safety. If you are constantly thinking about whether or not your child is ok, they probably aren't. Trust your gut and move on to a better place. You are the mom and you know what is best for your child!

Absolutely not. I can see the underwear issue ... heck even I dislike cleaning training pants and a lot of providers won't. The unattended bit, and the child being in the busy road in the first place? NO WAY!
