I know this is an old post but it caught my eye, My 3 yr old son woke up from his nap the other day with both his ears (intier ears), purpple, black, and blue bruising covering his ears. It looked awfull and accumulated over a 2 hr time span, we took him to the ER and they ran blood tests to check his plaitlet count to make sure he didnt have any type of immunity dissorder or lukimeia. All tests came back normal. They tried to tell me he had to of hit them? And the possibility of him hitting both ears which had to have been a very forceful hit, and neither me or his father knowing is impossible. Bc for a child to endure an injury like that they would have not only cried but screamed. The doctors have no answers... Just wondering if your bruised ears incident happend to be the same. The doctor also said that he had never seen anything like this before.

My son hasn't had bruising to his ear, but *I* have had bruising to my ear. I was unpacking some bags in the kitchen of the apartment that I used to live in, and my son fell on his tush and started crying. I bent down to console him. And when I stood back up I forgot that the overhead cabinet was open and I crashed into it. My ear was bloody and bruised. :p
Could he have ran through a doorway quickly and bumped his ear? Does he have any siblings that could have hit him? Does he go to school with other kids? Are there any pets? Could he have been bitten by an insect? Sometimes strange things can cause bruises. Some kids bang their heads against the bars of their cribs when they're rocking in their sleep, and if they do this repeatedly they can cause bruises.
How bad is the bruise? What shape? Do you have a picture?

Ian did not had bruising... but his right ear got so swollen that he look like dopey from Snow White. I took him to his doctor...she said that this age areas like the ears or around get swollen, for something as simple as a bug bite. Always have your doctor look in and check, they have more experience. I hope this helps
