Just wondering if there are any other mums who have children with servere allergies ezcema and extremely sensitive skin and how they manage nappy rash. I have been using the Herron zinc and castor oil cream which works well but was looking for other suggestions...

My mother-in-law suggested corn starch and it does work. We also got a prescription when my daughter had it real bad.

I know this sounds odd, but we went through a tough time with one of our sons. after trying everything, the only thing that worked was plain ol' corn starch. It worked wonders and the bleeding blisters were gone within a day or so. Good luck

I use Avalon Organics/Baby Avalon zinc ointment. It has more % of zinc than all the other brands (even the pediatrician recommended ones) and it doesn't have any petroleum products in it either. It works great on my daughter. Also, if you happen to be breast feeding, putting a little breast milk on it before the zinc 1x daily does wonders also.

I have two that have ezcema and I use Aquafor by Eucerin. It is like a petroleum base cream, and can be a little tacky, but it does amazing things. When my kids get scratches or just really dry skin I use this and by the next day it is gone. I raise rabbits and I get scratched all the time and when I do I clean the wound and put the Aquafor on and by the next day you can barely tell I was scratched and if I had not used it, it would be a scar. So that is what our pediatrician told us to use and now everyone in our family uses this product. (great for dry elbow and knees as well).

One thing that helps quite a bit is just to let the baby go without a diaper for a while. Just lay them in an area that you have "mess proofed" and let the air just hit the little bottom for a couple hours.

not sure where you live but my mom used A & D ointment. it's just a vitamin ointment, but it's not sold in canada anymore. sometimes if the rash is caused by a yeast infection i use vinegar and water (more water than vinegar or it hurts). not sure if that helps you any :)
